Israeli F-16 bombers have launched a series of air strikes against key targets in the Gaza Strip, killing and injuring scores of people.

Medical staff and Hamas officials said at least 140 people were killed when missiles hit security compounds and militant bases across Gaza.

The strikes, the most intense Israeli attacks on Gaza in recent times, come after the expiry of a truce with Hamas.

Jets firing missiles into heavily populated civilian areas? Nice. And then they wonder why Hamas attacks them

Was in retaliation to a hamas attack. And it was a police headquaters, so ods are most of those deaths where probbably the intended targets. (which was 15 when i saqw the news, the 140 (which was 120 5 minutes before) ) comes from hamas, not an impartial source.

Palestinians fire rockets into Israel, and they wonder why they get massacred?

Jets firing missiles into heavily populated civilian areas?

WEll you see this is the reason most civilized states don't keep their military positions inside cities.

It's always a funny one. But yea, you're right, I do agree with your point that it always seems to surprise people that "terrorists" are out there wanting to attack [us].

The one that always makes me laugh, is that some people still think that they appeared out of thin air for 9/11.

You believe that W news sources are any more reliable than others? ;)

Edit - the link says 155 from Gaza officials not Hamas

Heard this on the radio 2 news & just thought to myself why the **** isn't the Whole World shouting about it

Without sparking a massive debate into the history of the area, it's simple.

One of them attacks the other.
The other retaliates.
Repeat.

Sounds cynical but this has been happening for as long as I can remember, and I'd bet it will continue to happen for years to come.

So blowing up a security compound and killing the Gazan police chief is going to stop rocket attacks? Also, unguided rockets that rarely hit anything =! F-16 bombing strikes.

they killed an Israeli. SO the Israeli's killed them. At least the Israelis, targeted government security/armed forces, rather that deliberately choosing civilians.

So it;s ok to attack so long as it;s random?

Israel should just set up half a dozen unguided MRL's and level the place then eh?

My Grandad was in the military police out there when Israel was formed. They're both as bad as each other. He says the closest he came to getting it was when some Jewish group (can't remember their name) drove past a cafe he was patrolling past and lobbed a hand grenade into it. When on rural patrol they also used to make sheep and goat herders drive their livestock down roads that were suspected of being mined.

yep, it's expected the Palestinians will retaliate later, and Israel will launch a ground operation in retaliation for that.

So the solution in simple terms would be for one side to ceasefire regardless of what the other side does, would it not?

In practice, that's pretty impossible, but until someone acts like the 'bigger man' as it were, nothing will stop.

Tbh, in my view, in this war, there is no 'good' side left. Its gone on for far too long, for reasons that are decades old. Either some external force sorts it out (some have tried and failed) or the Israeli's or Palestinians promise to stop attacking eachother.

Everyone must surely know that military force or rockets or missiles aren't going to end a damn thing.

Israel should not exist. Scum.

History shows jews have more rights to the land then the Palistinians.

The palistanians never really had much claim of any land and the land they did have is now sitting in Jordan IIRC

It is no wonder we have terrorists in the World when Nations like Israel are given a ticket to ride by the Yanks.
The sooner China become Number 1 in the World the better :p (Well it is GD isn't it)

What did it achieve? Absolutely nothing, all it did was harden the resolve of their enemy.

They've already blockaded the entire region, only the Egyptian part of the border is open to anyone fleeing Gaza.

China sold guns to Mugabe though (for ivory).

So they're not going to be any better.
