Games cliches that really annoy you

Whats everyones views on picking up guns? Do you like the steady progression of going through the levels and picking the worst -> best guns or having a nice collection of guns in the early missions?

One game that is the exact definition of a game with great graphics and poop gameplay (in my opinion) is Crysis. The game looks great but the gameplay really sucks. This is why I think games like HL2 are pure genius, they have the perfect balance of gameplay and graphics, for me.

its funny how opinions differ. i found crysis gameplay far superior compared to half life 2.

Replaying FEAR reminded me of this one (I've seen it elsewhere though): short duration batteries. You know: your torch lasts about thirty seconds, then has to recharge. Then it lasts thirty seconds again before having to be recharged. Etc

If you want battery lifespan to be an issue, do it - but a) make it possible to get new ones, and b) let's have a sensible lifespan.

I hate boss fight build ups that let you down???
What i mean is for example say Final Fantasy 10 the main boss called Sin (giant whale like creature) you see him all throughout the game. Acting like a real badass destroying everything and hes featured in impressive FMV sequences. And when it comes to crunch time the final boss fit, you and sin, he dies ever so easily:(

So in other words bossess that aint so badass as they were hyped to be.

I think in FF10 and FF12, they just aren't scaled the same. If you go through doing all the side missions you end up much harder than the end bosses. However if you have more of a rush through you get a harder fight at the end.

There are far harder fights in FF12 than the end boss though even when you are way too hard for the end boss its a bit odd.

I recently finished playing through 'The Suffering' (now available as a free ad-supported download, fact fans). That has a torch/battery system, but you actually have to collect the batteries, of which there is a finite supply.

Thing is, the batteries are so plentiful, that if I had my torch on 100% of the time, it would never run out. If the amount of batteries you can hold wasn't capped at 9, I'm sure I would've finished the game with 100+ in my virtual pockets.

Whats the point, honestly. Just give us a working torch AND NONE of your silly Doom3 torch shenanigans either, thankyouverymuch.

The dreaded wooden door that not even your mini-nuke launcher can dent. Or that little fence blocking your path that your highly trained Special Forces Operative can't simply step over.

Anything called a "WoW killer"...yawn no it won't

Well to be honest there was a WoW killer released that did have a massive affect on the game and its community... It was called: "The Burning Crusade"
Luckily with Wotlk they seem to have made a decent expansion and rectified the wrongs and bad tast of TBC.

Back on topic: I think the PC gaming is dead is the one that annoys me most.
Mainly because people don't understand that PC gaming is far from dead and infact is constantly evolving.
