My 280GTX didnt come with an 8 power adapter..??

Basically i got a 280gtx for xmas. I installed it, plugged in my 6 slot power connector but notice there was an 8 slot power connector next to it and i didnt get an adapter or splitter with it.

Regardless I powered up my pc and there was a red light at the end of the GPU also the fans wernt firing up.

Anyone tell me if I can get an 8 slot adpater or wtf is going on? The instructins that game with the card are useless aswell...

In my case I got a splitter, but aside from that my PSU has both the 6 and 8 on it, I was able to simply use it.

I think you need to plug in both a 6 and and an 8 pin power cord, i'm sure i had to fill both sockets when i put mine in, it's quite a power hungry card

I'm check to see if your PSU has a 6-8 pin connector or if not, you should be able to find something on OC UK, to adapt what you do have

I just checked my 280 GTX manual, your right it is NO SWEARING. see if you can find an adapter on OC UK or online thats my best advice

It wont work without an 8 and 6-Pin connected.

If you got it from here then send them a webnote and they should send you one out.

I seem to remember you mentioning a GTX280 you'd got from the B-Grade section a few weeks back...

B-Grade = Missing items sometimes!!

lol your right mate and it seems the only thing that IS missing is these adapters!! but i have a pretty modern PSU and i wasnt even aware that 8 pin power sockets existed! I saw some pics of the top but assumed it was just 2x6 power slots oh well...

So. Anyone have a spare or know where i can buy one

When ever I have got a card from OCukers and didnt have the right adaptors with it, I justed asked and they sent for free.

It doesnt hurt to ask.

I have a spare from when I tried to source one for my GX2 way back - I've since got a better PSU with the correct adapters, send me your address to my trust and I should be able to get it sent out sometime on Monday.

I'm in the same boat. Have a watercooled GTX 280 sitting here with no 8 pin

Sourced an adapter though and hopefully it should be here monday or tuesday.

Same thing happened to me over christmas. Got my self a 9800Gx2 card and it required an 8pin plug in power point. Like you the card did not come with one and my PSU's dont have them

. Waiting on my new PSU to arrive, sucks all the same as i so wanted to play with my new toy.
