I'm leaning towards it because it single slot which I need because the longer GPU's with double slot coolers covers my SATA ports.

Any reason I shoudn't go for one?

Ah looked single slot on a different piccie I saw but that one is definitely double slot.

What are options here then? Different mobo?

Just been looking at a review of the 512mb version and it looks a beast

Not bad temps either

Thats the one thing thats stopping me getting a 4870, cos the temps are stupidly high on them, and cos I cerebral palsy I cant modify the card so I have to be careful what I buy. Im leaning towards a 4850 atm.

Even with a 4850 make sure you get one with custom cooling as the single slot stock cooler runs hot unless you turn the fan speed up.

ASUS 4870 512gb Dark Knight has a custom cooler right? It does look very temping tho if thats tha actual temps, but cant really aford £200 tho:mad:

But I like to keep the idel temps in the 40s for a gpu as a rule with little noise as poss. When the 4870s came out the temps were idling in the 70s or 80s, way to hot for my liking and plus those sort of temps heat up your case making everything else warmer then should be. My 3870 idels at 37-43c with the fan at 20%, but Ive moded my bios cos the fan speed was set at 45% at idle and was the noisest thing in my case.
