Hi there,

I've had the n96 for a few months now and im wanting to improve it a bit with some new features that make use of the unlimited data plan / wifi and so on...
Can anyone suggest any decent applications?

The reason im asking is that I bought an iPhone for my partner and after installing some really nice apps im getting a bit jealous! ;)

Any advice is appreciated!

Cheers

JoikuSpot or WalkingHotSpot. Great for getting your lappy connected quickly and easily while on the move. I have joiku. It's performed very well and has WEP, but it's crashed a couple of times when I've been connected for longer. Phone can heat up a bit as it uses a lot of power, so it's probably better for more brief sessions.

Both should be compatible with N96.

Cheers for the reply mate,

It seems the n96 is quite a boring phone going by the lack of replies. lol

No chance!

Opera Mini (using it to post, in fact)
Google Maps for mobile
Google Mail for mobile
BBC iPlayer
CorePlayer
Fring
SportsTracker
Satnav (Nokia Maps, Tomtom, Garmin etc.)

Also FTP, bittorrent, vnc clients. There's loads of stuff on the S60 platform. Check out one of the many similar threads on here, or a more specialist site like Symbian Freak or All About Symbian.

why? use proper opera or default browser, thats what I normally use. I also try to avoid java apps since they mess around with symbian phones.

I find that Mini loads pages a lot faster, as pages are compressed by Opera servers. This means that there is both less data to download and the pages render more quickly.

I might be swayed by Opera Mobile 9, if it ever comes out...

Picodrive!

I vote we have a sticky thread with the best symbian apps...

Cant really have a 'best' symbian apps thread cos its more a personal choice of what people install rather than what is deemed to be best.

For example I quite like the nokia sports tracker app but its no good if you're a fat lazy slob who eats and not much else :p

The lazy ones can install Nokia Vine - nice lil app in some ways better than sportstracker. Nokia have terrible marketing!
