Bioshock £3.49 on Steam now!

Has anyone else noticed the mouse acceleration in Bioshock? I've checked the config file but can't find any setting that turns it off. Sensitivity is down to 1 but it's impossible to quickly aim with precision :/

Apparently Valve have said that if Steam were to ever go under, they'd release a patch for all users which unlocks the games they've got tied to their account, meaning you'd be able to access them without the online checks.

You're right to be cautious, but I think you're probably safe in this case. It's by far the most successful digital distribution platform there is for games, so it's probably the least likely to disappear anytime soon.

OK, I'm sold on that :D

Just the other question then....anyone able to get mods working with Steam versions - i.e. mouselook and 3D models in Doom?

Cheers :)

Bought myself ID Software pack, turns out complete waste of small change, none of the Q3 based games can play full screen (opengl "fullscreen unavailable in this mode" error in vista) and when launched in window display gets corrupted as soon as that Steam online community popup appears in the corner. Absolute rubbish release.

Yes because I'm sure it's the software and not your particular combination of build and drivers that are the issue...

It is their software.

Here's Q3A launched straight from original Q3A CD:

All the rest, driver versions and hardware configuration at this point is irrelevant - original release works flawlessly, Steamed doesn't. Same happens with RTCW.

I thought it was just me. I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking this. After getting to the point where the crowbar no longer sufficed I really started to notice it.

I got bioshock earlier today, i couldn't pass it up at £3.49. Not a bad game so far, nothing as amazing as call of duty 4, but for the price it is well worth it. It is a bit of a shame that the game lacks multiplayer though, i could see small/medium sized multiplayer maps quite fun as a mix of guns and plasmids would make multiplayer interesting.

I found a massive 50 page thread on the official forum complainging about the mouse acceleration - it seems it's the result of the game being a 360 port and there's no way of turning it off. Low and behold, after plugging in a 360 pad, the aiming works fine. This kind of thing winds me right up :/

Don't meant to go off-topic, but if you're downloading something off steam but need to close it down, will it resume the download after you restart it or will it start from the beginning again? Will the game become corrupted in anyway?

^ you can stop, pause and close the download at any time and it will just resume from where it was. so no need to worry about corruption. :)

the download will just resume

I've paused and resumed ~50 of my Steam downloads before, and only one has ever been corrupted - though that was probably due to my ****ty router falling over all the time.

crazy.. I just installed the Q3A demo on Steam, and I got the exact same problem. I own the retail version of Q3A, which runs flawlessly.

Something is definitely amiss with the Steam version :/

completely depends on your tastes. just play it, dont let the strong opinions that are floating around influence you to much, especially now that you have bought it ;) i liked it

Whats the best setting to play on, i would prefer realistic, if theres such a setting.
