There's a variety of different curry sauces available, such as Pataks, Sharwards, Lloyd Grossman, the list goes on...

I tried a Pataks one earlier and it was fairly mild, I need something with a bit of kick to it.

Which ones have people tried and which ones have the best taste?

to be honest i wouldnt mind some recommendations myself. I have been disappointed with most of these sauces that ive tried.

They seem to lack a significant flavour. either korma, or generic curry. nothing seems to vary much

It all depends on what you like everyone could give you a different answer and you could hate them all, do you want something that is close to traditional curry, something like take away curry, something hot, something mild, something full of cream etc

a bit of a kick to one man is a bit of nothing to another

how are we meant to know what you think tastes the best ? you need to try a few, everyones tastes are different and each type of curry tastes a hell of a lot different to eachother too.

what type did you try and think was mild ?

I agree. I'm not expecting anything close to what you'd get in a curry house, but some of the sauces lack any serious flavour.

I'm not going to try every single sauce from every single brand. I'm just looking for recommendations based on what people have tried and enjoyed.

I'm not expecting people to guess what I am going to like, but if they enjoyed a certain sauce then that's enough for me to at least give it a try.

you dont need to try every type from every brand. they all taste similar anyway. theres about 4/5 different main types and each of them will get recommended in this thread leaving you know better off than when you started.

not to mention the food snobs who will be in in the morning to mock all us lowlifes for buying curry sauce in a jar :p

anyway i find the tesco premium brand sauces pretty good

What do people recommend adding to these?

I assume the majority have a bit of diced onion or something in them. I normally just add the sauce to the chicken, but rarely add much else.

I'm just looking for recommendations, it's not difficult love.

I've tried a good few from most of the mentioned brands, and i'd say that Lloyd Groceman's sauces are probably the best. But in my opinion none of them are any good really, i find them all a bit bland and tasteless. I'd love it if someone made a good alternative, a decent really hot and nice tasting curry for example.

hmm, homepride are ok, reliable anyway. and you get a lot for the price. Im more familiar with sherwood in respect to chinese sauces.

and pataks - I've hated because they do the paste :p
