but is there a limit on how much i can withdraw? cause its gonna be around 1200 euros which is like £1,156.93 according to xe.com

curious cause when i do that find agent thing some of those shops around my area are little news agents and flower shops lol!

Not sure if there's a limit but if there is it'll probably be more than that amount. It'll probably be a few K in some of the bigger places.

I think quite a few random places do WU money transfers and things. May as well go to one of the bigger places to be on the safe side instead of a random newsagents.

it was around 25 people recieveing the same amount of cash all going to different places accross europe so think this was possibly easiest way for them to do it!

thanks for all the replies!

Make sure you have photo ID on you, sometimes they ask for proof of address also (bank statement etc. from last 3 months) .

Before collecting you can check MTCN number is valid on WU website - make sure you take MTCN number and sender First Name and Surname with you to agent - they need this to release funds

Might be worth calling before to check if there is enough cash available - I always get issues when collecting locally from newsagents.

Unfortunately their rates aren't great - I collected 5k USD a few days ago and they gave me a rate of 1.60 , rate was 1.50 on the day.

There is limits on withdrawals, but I can't remember how much it is - collected $15k+ before in one go.

cool thanks dude, just a little problem tho, i entered all the info in to tracking part of the website and it says about invalid information, but ive spoke to the guy who im recieving it off and hes 100% sure the money is there!

is it just best to try and collect it and see what happens?

WU although is rife with scammers is still used by legitimate companies!

a lot of emergency cash facilities from banks will run via Western Union as thats who VISA deal with a lot of the time.

ID is a must to take with you, the limit is very high for the most part, i know of people collecting over $20K - but could depend on the outlet you are using also.

I had no problem collecting nearly £500 from a WU agent in central London which turned out to be a tiny corner-shop/newsagent!

However, I had to wait an hour whilst they went to the bank to get the readies!

I would advise that you select the agent most convenient for you to use and then phone them to see if they need advance warning for collecting such an amount... that may avoid you having to hang around whilst they nip down to Barclays!

Lunn Polly, First Choice and Co-op Travel agents?

Most of these display WU facilities. I've used them locally to send money abroad and no doubt I could collect from them too. (Provided someone was sending me some money of course;))

Hope that helps?

went to first chioce today in town took 4-5 mins very happy and no problems at all
