Sick of 4870 - Is the GTX 260 any good?

The HX520 and HX620 are both very good buys :)

The 520 *should* be okay - I'm running a single 4870, o/c'd quad and raided F1's from one :)

*Gets out his wallet* :(

Can you good sirs point me in the direction of a new psu please? Preferably Novateck as its nearby and can get it sorted immediately.

Could this possibly sort my s-video port problems too?

Really appreciate the help.

not sure aboout your s video problems, but a good power supply would be a modular corsair, around 500w

It's a bit irresponsible to recommend he buy a new PSU when it could be a faulty card, he could be sat here next week £100 down and no better off. :p

Insufficient PSU will usually cause BSOD's, reboots, failure to post or something a little more terminal like that.

Try the card on another system before splashing out on a new PSU.

Not really irresponsable when looking at his machine could be saving him a lot more money if his psu goes boom. From the psu stats its heavily loaded and does not have what it takes to run a 4870. He should be looking at a new psu whether the cards faulty or not.

Just in case all your problems have been due to an overclock too far - try running at stock for a time and see if your problems dissapear :D

If your still getting the same problems then maybe a new psu will solve if not all most of your issues - only other thought is that maybe one with a bit more 'oomph would serve for future as well e.g
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...name=Corsair TX 750W ATX2.2 SLI Compliant PSU
Fixed cables but a good price & 750w

Plus, if it turns out that it is not the psu he can always return it within 28 days as per regulations. I would go for something chunkier than a 500-600 watt psu as (atleast I make sure they do) they should last for considerably longer than your other pieces of hardware. I usually ensure that I buy a psu with enough headroom to last me two to three years. If you are looking to crossfire your 4870 you will need somthing with atleast 600 watts of juice.

That's a good point, thanks

Corsair are on the expensive side. Any other recommended brands?

np's, its the problem I ran into. I had one 4870, Q6600 @ 3.6 and 4 gigs of ram on a Seasonic S12 500watt psu. Ran fine with that set up, but as soon as I added a second 4870 the pc would shut down as soon as I even thought about running anything 3D.

Can you recommend any other brands that would be cheaper than Corsair? Something that would be future proof?

Thanks man.

Tbh the Corsairs are as cheap as you will find them, whilst keeping quality in mind. What I would say though is go for something with a slightly higher rated wattage, like the 620 or 750 :)

There's no such thing as cheap future=proofing, and you should NEVER skimp with the PSU, it is arguably the most important part of your system. Get the Corsair.
