Whats UT3 like these days?

Well I sold my copy of UT3 but thinking of getting it again via steam, I have UT2004 though, is it worth bothering with UT3 or is it still like it was 6 months back? Not as many people playing, not many mods? Minimal Instagib CTF servers?

Its a pretty shiny game but its pretty much the same as 2004

I would like to know this also. Did anyone play those RPG UT2004 servers where you leveled up and killed monsters? Would be interesting on the UT3 engine with half decent gfx.

UT3 is nice, but it's definitley not as fun and has nowhere near the amount of players as UT2004.

It just seems like a console game and you have to login with your username which is annoying.

2004 in my opinion is the best UT, but some will say the original is.

BTW you can't get it on steam anymore because they ran out of keys, they said they will be bringing it back once they have more.

I like UT3, but 2004 in my opinion is the best UT, but some will say the original is.

Does UT3 have many mods? And user made levels?

Id stick with UT 2004, much better game, although UT3 isnt bad, i think its more of a console game tbh.

Yeah, it has a lot of maps, i don't know about mods since i hardly play the game.

other than the ui which does sucks how can you say its a console game? ut, including ut3 has never been a console game due to the speed of the gameplay.

Oh and there has been an expansion anounced btw. No details are released but people are guesing its gonna be something along the lines as what ut2004 was to 2003

I loved UT3 but got fed up of the random crashes if you had a Xfi based soundcard and wanted to use openal (sounds crap without it).

Might go see if they have patched it yet, its a fun game!

When I played (only casually to see what it was like) about 2 months back, I had no problems finding full, fast servers.

Really enjoyed it. Couldn't say what it's like now.

So it's gonna make UT3 awesome? As UT2004 was awesome and UT2003 was just meh.

The UI makes it seem that way, it would be great if the settings menu had real options. It is sad when you need a 3rd party app. to get to the real settings.

You need to make a registry file to disable the x-ram on your x-fi, i did and it works no problem now

Ive always wanted to try ut3 because I loved 2004. How different is it gameplay wise?

Yeah, it's ridiculous that the game has been out over a year and they still haven't fixed this.

You just have to disable it, but it's a shame it doesn't work.

Stick with 2k4, always going to be the better game.

I miss my competition level playing with divine.... ONS is just full of crap people now :/

Very similar.. but i stopped playing it due to random crashing and some performance issues.. Plus it was very hard to find any servers playing the more "fun" game modes.. Plus it used to lag all the time even tho i used to have a good ping.. was very odd.

Gameplay is much better than 2k4, its more about shooting than the whole jumping around thing that got old and annoying very quick in UT2004. Its much closer to the original Unreal.

There are plenty of maps out and the mods are slowly coming, next stage of the MSUC is in March I think so more mods will be released for that. I need to get my game working again so I can finish the level I'm working on for Jailbreak....

I never had the problems with crashing when using a Xifi.. :/
