Hi

Following on from this thread where I was asking for suggestions for a new car I bought one last week and picked it up today

It's a little different to my original criteria - after some consideration I've decided to get a newer car which will last me for (hopefully) 5-6 years as I've been changing car far too frequently in the past!

I've gone for a Renault Megane 2.0 Dynamique 3 door as I've always liked these. Very happy with the car - very responsive engine (far more so than the Astra), decent mpg on the drive back from Clapham (even through the outskirts of London), like the drive, quiet, etc. So far so good!

The car has done less than 18,000 miles and feels like new!

What attracted to you to the Megane? I cant personally think of any reason why I'd buy one. But congrads, someone has to buy them :)

Bird at work asked me to change a headlight bulb on hers. Never again. Godforsaken thing.

It's a nice colour but beyond that I cannot at all fathom why you've bought it I am afraid :(

I thought after 2 previous car disasters you'd have been a bit more careful this time :p

I honestly don't think you will keep that for anywhere near 5 or 6 years, but good luck with it and have fun all the same :)

is Dynamique just regarding the interior trim, or does the exterior vary depending on name too?

Actually the name isn't so bad I suppose. A relative has/had a Xsara 'Desire'. And he wasn't/isn't a woman.

I had one, albeit a 1.4 for one of my first cars a few years ago.

It has plenty of kit, but had to go back to the dealer a few times for electronic niggles, the rear view mirror falling off etc.

I also found the seats very uncomfortable.

However, its a good choice if you managed to stick to your original budget of under 2k!

lol - thanks for the comments!

You'd think I'd learn after my past two cars but for some reason I've always liked these - I think it's the love it or hate it looks!

The headlight is a pain - got to go through the wheel arch by the look of it so I'm not looking forward to it!

I haven't driven a new one so I can't compare

The tyres do look a little flat on the front - I'll check them before I head home at the end of the week

I paid £4400 for it

Yes, put it on full lock, take off the plastic inspection cover, sit down facing the same direction as the car is pointing, slide your wrist carefully into the inspection hole, feel for the bulb clip, release, pull off the connector, remove bulb, get new bulb, slide hand back in and look left at the headlamp, you can see your hand through the hole the bulb needs to go into, use sight to get it in place, refit clip and connector and remove hand.

:D

Followed by washing your cuts? :p
