Who cares what other cards are in there, its main focus is to show how much faster the 285 is over the 280.
This is the outcry from every NVIDIA fanboy when they see the damage that the X2 is doing to the 280
Classic.
How exactly does including another point of comparison make anything less accurate?

Hehe. The 295 will of course not be a proper step up for you 4870X2 guys, but for those wanting either a 4870X2, or the GTX295, then it may make all the difference. Unless it has typical NVidia pricing...

Because the review above is basically showing off that the 4870x2 is better then all the cards, yet they fail to point out that all the other cards are single units, rather then 2. Which already shows the comparisons there doing is flawed.
How can you compare something which is vastly different?
Its like comparing Crysis to Duck Shot.

It will have typical NVIDIA pricing, ATi could lower price of X2 since it has been made for ages and the process is probably very refined and yields of cores good. Thus ATi can deliver NVIDIA death in the face again by making the X2 better value for money and the 295 only worth it to the diehard fanboys and the morons who lap up Physx
Results look about right, more interested in the overclocking ability of the GTX285 and of course the price.

its quite important to throw other cards in the mix even if its suppsoed to be a comparison between the 280 and 285. its very easy to rediculously skew the facts and figures (by way of altering the scales on the graphs and such) when comparing only two results, but its a LOT harder when your comparing 10.
Additionally, if the other cards tested are up to date with the latest drivers, it also gives you a right here right now comparison, otherwise you might end up comparing a 285 to another card on 6 month old drivers, and we all know how new driver releases can improve performance in certain areas......
anyway the long and short of it is, we should test every card in existance with every game ever produced in every resolution possible. After all, its the only fair way.....

Let's wait for a test between a gtx295 and a 4870x2 and watch the 295 walk over it,as it has already done in a pre production test at guru3d.com

nice, hopefully other reivewers will do this when the 285 is release, and test it against a 280 clocked to the same speeds, also they should downclock the 285 to 280 speeds, I assume that it won't make a difference though. but it would be cool

There was more than just the guru review and from what i seen they all used the same 6 games. I never seen any walk over apart from 1 review not sure which one it was though. It will be faster but as said its 6 months to late. To the point though all cards used were able to go in 1 pci-e slot so who cares where the speed of the x2 comes from it is faster. As said above its nice to see where all the cards sit when the drivers have matured instead of going on 6 month old reviews. Also people who are considering the new gtx285 may be considering an x2 but holding off to see how the single gpu gtx285 compares as price wise they may not be to far apart.

The 295 is great for extreme high end guys that also like to fold a lot. As I myself have said though, to be competitive in the high end gaming department, it still needs to be a fair price.
