KEF HTS2001.3, good?

I would say there a lot better than the 2001, and at least as good if not better than the 3001. Seeing as you have bought one for the centre, getting another 2 for the rears would keep the same sound and look running through your system.

So u think i should stick with the Gallo's for the rears aswell?
They wouldn't be bad as rears as they would hardly be noticeable because of they size.

Iv used that shop before, good customer service, I had a faulty sub, replaced it straight away.

should look quite smart when all setup mate, be sure to post pics :)

Yep it should. I've got a major job on my hand with wiring the rears mind so that will be the last thing to set-up. The sub and center should be fairly easy though.

One thing you need to know about Anthony Gallo Nucleus Micro speakers is they don't sound good out of the box. They need to be 'run in' & I quote...

The original Micro's needed anywhere from 50 to 100 hours to achieve their smoothness and drop their slightly hard edge out of the box.

Thanks for that. Its good to know. Will just have to run them in under normal viewing.

With the X200, it doesn't matter where i put it as its downward firing?
Can i put it in a corner next to my chimney breast?

Bass frequencies are non-directional, so it shouldn't matter where you put it. This may give you better advice though.

Cheers. Looks like corners are ideal:

An interesting side effect of placing the subwoofer in a corner is that the distortion is lowered significantly. The cause for this is that you get a reinforcement of fundamental tones from all the reflections in phase from the adjacent surfaces, while harmonics (which is distortion when it comes to a steeply low pass filtered subwoofer) are lacking the corner support, and become weaker in amplitude compared to the wanted fundamentals. In addition, you also get increased efficiency which means that the input power to the subwoofer can be decreased, which also contributes to less distortion and increased headroom. There are many good reasons to consider a corner placement if you have only one subwoofer.

Oh By the ways guys, Thanks for all the help and the comments/suggestions.
Looks like i made it in the end.

Cant wait for the sub and the speakers to arrive so i can enjoy my DSG820 to the full

One more question guys.

I have been reading the online manual for the XLS200 sub (http://www.bkelec.com/HiFi/Sub_Woofers/XLS200 MK2 MANUAL.pdf).

Seeing as my DSG820 amp only has 1 subwoofer in, the manual says i should just Connect the RCA interconnect to the amp and then to the RIGHT (Mono) channel on the amp.

But, i've noticed there are cables which have splitters on them which can go in to my amp and then split out into 2 which can go in the L & R on the sub. Like this:

Should i connect like this?

Or will the standard RCA to RCA suffice like this:

Yep it's a single cable from the sub out on the amp to the left (mono) on the sub. I can highly recomend a cable from mark grant cables. Swore by them for years.

This is the Mark Grant Cable i have in mind: http://markgrantcables.co.uk/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=43_4&products_id=6
Good?

I know its been mentioned many times that it shouldn't matter where i put the sub but i got to ask just to be sure. Would my sub sound OK in this location (its the only space i have for it)?

yep that's the exact same cable I have. I use his cables all through my system. Have done for years. They are very well made with excellent components. I did back to back testing with his phono cables on my cd player to amp. Against 2 other leads I had. 1 paid twice as much for. The other was nearly 5 times the price. The mark grant cable beet them both.

Add to that if your not happy for any reason you will get a full refund. And the fact he can make them to any length you require and there normally sent next day.

Oh. The sub is fine there. I recently moved mine into the corner and it actually improved it. And it still needs setting up properly since buying the AVR280. Looks like I'm going to have finally buy a spl metre and start playing with REW.

Cheers kidloco

I've ordered the cable in 1.5m length. Just what i need!
Thats great the sub will be OK in that corner nicely tucked away.

Now i just sit and wait........

Well that's everything ordered now.
3x Anthony Gallo Micro Speakers (2x rear, 1x center), pair of AG Speaker stands (for the rears), BK Gemini subwoofer and 35m of speaker cable (for rear speakers).

Last month i only got the Sony DSG820 so that i could improve my sound quality. Then i got persuaded by you guys to get a center or a subwoofer and then you guys convinced me to complete the set by getting the rears. So £860 later my audio configuration is complete and i will finally have a 5.1 HD system.

All in all i've spent £1,500 on my audio setup now. Cant wait to have it all setup so i can enjoy some surround surround goodness :)
