If they didn't want people making assumpions and having opinions they wouldn't have gone running to the papers with their little story :rolleyes:

I know, all I'm judging my assumpions from are what's printed. Just as everyone else is who's saying otherwise. I'm not going to do anything about it, it's not going to affect my life, it's not going to affect theirs. It's just an interesting topic for dicussion. You opinion differs and that's what it's all about. I did imply in my OP if you re-scan it that I would be alone in my opinion, it turns out I wasn't.

Opinions generally are pretty ignorant. They're based on opinion, after all. :p

Fair enough, although I have yet to form an opinion on the subject due to a lack of info so to me this is just a story about someone who won money, not potentially another "Lotto Lout".
 
I really can't believe some of the replies in this thread, but then again I suppose it's the norm for GD.

The woman risked her last quid on the remote chance they could possibly have a bit of luck for a change, a sort of last hope, and it came off.

Good on her I say :)

Whatever they decide to do with the money is their business, but I hope they enjoy themselves and look to the future.

You don't seriously think an Evo or Impreza is a good first car for a 17 year old who has just passed their test do you? Just look at all the new drivers who manage to crash corsas, fiestas, saxos, etc and they have less than a third of the power. It should be the law that you can't have a car over a certain power before you have a few years driving experience, and I say this as quite a new driver myself (1 year 3 months).

However giving your kids a £100k each. A lot of cash for young people. I hope they have a good time with it all.

Thats culture. Over here cars aren't a big deal. I regularly see 18 year olds driving M3's and other high powered cars. Hell a girl in one of my chemistry classes had a M6. It's just not a big deal here.
