Am i the only person who feels this is a half baked hack n slash by Peter Molyneux? The story was poor and the game was slightly limp for me. Did i miss something? I thought this was the game that defined rpg gaming?

Well I'm a big RPG fan and thought it brought a lot of fresh elements to the genre. Yes it was typically overhyped to the max, but then i thought it was a really good title and probably one of the best titles I had played in 2008 - and imo 2008 was a poor year for gaming on the whole.

At first I had doubts, it looked like some kiddie game but I was very surprised. The whole world was superbly created, combat was pathetically easy yes, magic could have been a lot more varied and the game was ridden with typical Molyneux buggyness. I thought the story panned out well too, with a somewhat poor ending.

Not sure about it defining the RPG genre, where did that come from?

The Witcher (coming to the 360 soon) gave us a no holds barred risky approach (sex, racism etc) to the RPG genre as well as bringing a hugely complex game to the fold.

Mass Effect was another RPG bringing new and varied elements into the genre. FPS, RPG, and the ability to punch newscasters.

Fable 2 gave us a bright, vivid world that was different to any RPG I'd ever played. It was just fun and enjoyable throughout, if rather short. It felt like Kameo on crack during some occasions.

I liked it...once.
It has 0 replay value and i completed it ASAP to get the best value for trading it in for GoW2.

To be fair. It was good, and the storyline wasn't BAD, but it wasn't GOOD, and that's what got me :( I loved the original and the second one just disappointed me

Fable 2 was alright, but as usual, promised more than it actually delivered. Far too short, world was far too small, very few quests. And there was no real point in finding a woman/having a family other than the sheer novelty of it - which wears off rather quickly.

Never played the first installment, but this felt really short. I finished the game in about 9 hours. I went back to mop up some achievements, but was seriously dissapointed. Should i expect more from the DLC?

The above 2 quotes sum up my views on the game, yet, for some inexplicable reason, I enjoyed every minute of it, and I can't really pinpoint why. Even the loading times did not put me off. It has an addictive quality that is quite hard to describe. Not enough to make me play the story more than once, but the once you play it is thoroughly enjoyable if you ignore the bugs.

For me, probably the best 360 exclusive game last year (2008).

I didn't read the hype or ever play fable 1.

I saw it for £19 so I bought it. Really enjoying it, same as Bioshock - I didnt read into the hype or anything and played it for the first time about 3 months ago. i couldnt put it down till I finished it and I now feel the same abotu Fable II.

Great game IMO

I enjoyed it but once I finished it I realised how empty the game felt really. Nothing really had much meaning. It just frustrated me as the gam could have been brilliant, but it wasn't. I did enjoy it though but just felt it was lacking depth.

I just had an annoying feeling throughout that "something" was missing and i could never put my finger on it, guess thats what you mean about emptyness ^^. Quite enjoyed it but i doubt i'd go through it again...

I enjoyed it but it lacked the heavyweight feel of something like oblivion or fallout since you could go from good to bad or vice versa just by donating some money or killing a few people. There were a few bugs that stopped me doing some quests which was a bit annoying but as rp2000 said, I didn't stop it being good fun and I think it's good to have games that are accessible but have some depth unlike the likes of Fallout which will turn off most gamers; games like Fable 2 might encourage people to delve a bit deeper next time round.

The main thing that bugged me was the travelling. The fast travelling is good and all that, but you just couldn't go and explore like you could in Oblivion. I wanted open world areas full of things to find and do, WITH the option to fast travel to places I HAD ALREADY BEEN!

The extras like getting a wife, having a child, etc etc. added nothing more to the game other than getting some easy achievement points.

I also hated how you could EASILY make EVERYONE love you simply by spamming the same 'show trophy' (for example). It got a little tiresome having 10-15 people following me everywhere I went. I would always have a crowd when humping my wife!

I enjoyed it but would agree with other it was too short, buggy, the side quest just didn't seem that interesting and it has no real replay value. What made it worse was that it was released the sametime as Fallout 3 which is so much better all round in my view.
