Looking at getting some of this stuff

Already have some Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5

Anyone running this config and see any issue with mixing the brands etc. as I may start to mildly overclock my Q6600

I am very interested this RAM too as I would like to know how it fairs with a Q6600 and a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R motherboard.

Its wonderful price for 2x2GB DDR2 and would this one be good for overclocking, or should it just be a different brand instead.

I've currently running 2GB of the Corsair CAS4 6400 DHX ram, and looking to upgrade as GTA IV is almost using all 2gb.

I was going to get another 2GB of the Corsair to whack me up to 4GB, but this ram is v.cheap for the amount your getting,

Just wondering how it overclocks though? I'm currently running a C2D chip @ 4050Mhz so it needs to clock up a wee bit

4-4-4-12 timings @ 450mhz << cpu-z reading

I've got 8GBs of this in my machine at 470Mhz at 5-5-5-18 timings, its good stuff and does the job well.

I noticed absolutely no difference going from 4 to 8GB though.

Will I notice much performance drop going from 4-4-4-12 to 5-5-5-18? I'm not realy clued up on RAM if I'm honest

Won't make the blindest bit of difference, and the extra 2GB will speed up vista nicely.

I'm using XP and could do with the extra umphhhh whilst gaming

You probably know but you'll not see all 4GBs with 32bit XP, you'll only be able to use about 3.25GBs of it because of the limits of 32bit operating systems.

Well I ordered some in the end and just hope it goes ok with my Corsair stuff. If not I'll put it aside for a VMWare build I'm planning

Thrash your computer as much as you can, hit CTRL+ALT+DEL and go to the performance tab, check the commit charge box, the peak value is the maximum amount of RAM you've managed to use in kb. If this value is over 2,000 then you would benefit from more RAM.

I have 8GB (4x2GB) of this ram installed on a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R with a Q6600 clocked to 3.2Ghz (8x400) - all OK here!

I went from 2Gb to 4Gb in XP 32bit and the difference was marginal, however the RAM was cheap and I'd rather have too much than too little.

I have 2gb of OCZ Platinum. Running in Xp at the moment but looking at changing to Vista, would this be worth getting? How good is it compared to OCZ Platinum? Do people notice an improvement with 6gb over 4gb?
