So i have a Xpertvision 9800 GT 512Mb graphics card, i am trying to overclock it using Rivatuner. Firstly is Rivatuner the best way to do it and secondly does anyone know what i can push the card to in terms of core speed and memory speed. Thanks in advance :D

Is it a 9800GT+ or vanilla 9800GT? Rivatuner is a very good programme to use and is very simple, I would also download ATItool which is a useful programme to check for artifacts and works on nVidia cards too.

Finally download GPUZ, this will confirm to you all the current settings of your GFX card and is useful to reference to if you need any information. Just keep an eye on temperatures with a view to them not exceeding 80degrees or so.

In regards to your max overclock, I would set the core to 700mhz and then 'scan for artifacts' with ATITool, if no errors are flagged up within a few minutes then up the core to 710mhz, and repeat until errors are found, back of 10mhz and that will be your max safe overclock. Repeat this process for the memory but start off at 1000mhz(2000mhz), which should be fairly easy for your card. Good luck, any problems just ask!

The sonic versions of your card started at 700/1000 so as stated above you should be able to overclock to around those levels.
Rivatuner is fine. I'm not a fan of the 'checking' tools. I just go and play some graphically intense games for 30 mins or so and adjust the clock accordingly.

Kinda relevant as mine are 8800GT's, but sometimes ATI tool would show artifacts in the scanner, but it would be crystal clear of them when intense gaming.

Thanks for the replies, Rivatuner does not seem to be able to set the fan speeds correctly as 100% is the lowest setting and 25% is the highest setting, this means i cannot put the fan at full speed which is annoying i thought it was to do with having v tune installed so i deleted it nothing changed, any ideas?

100% is full speed

Thats what i would have thought but at 100% the fan stops and at 25% its at 75% full speed. So basically its in reverse and i cant put the fan at full speed.
