GPU swap advice ( 4870 for Nvidia equiv )

Unless its the 9800GTX+ it would infact be a downgrade, equivalent card would be the 9800GTX+ or the 260

The equivalent card is NOT a 9800GTX+ at all, that is the 4850 competitor. It's a GTX 260 216sp that competes with the 4870.

I think your best bet would be to get a 9800gtx+ with the person giving you some money on top i can't see many people swapping a gtx260 216 or 196 for a 4870 512. If it was the 1gb version you would have a decent chance. If all else fails try getting a good price on the 4870 and buy a gtx260.

Cheers guys, I don't really mind the performance drop. I initially arrived at the 4870HD form a BFG 280GTX, which I realised was being wasted in Linux and was only really purchased on a whim to play Crysis in windows.
Once back in Linux I decided to downgrade to a more suitable card. Unfortunately the ATI route was a bad choice and the performance with the linux drivers is pretty poor.

I'll take your advice on-board and negotiate some more .
