Amazing video. Heard about this after watching rudetube last night.

Very, very lucky calf.

Now could some tell me why there was two crocadiles and they went for the calf as opposed to one of the lions? I mean do you think crocadiles can tell the difference between a calf and a lion? Can a lion really put up much of a fight against a croc in water?

Thats a great video, might be a repost, but its worth it  I think everyone should take a trip there at least once in their lives, amazing place.
Last time I was in Kruger all I saw was 2 juvenile gazelles rutting :(

Yep. They know their meal and their prey, just as we as humans (usually) don't eat lions

I thought crocs would go for anything that's edible though? Humans aren't normaly there prey but they'll have no hesitation in attacking one when the chance comes.

Is it because a lion could fight back, could a lion fight back against a croc when it attacks from the water and tries to pull it in?

LOL. When did you go and how much does a holiday cost there?

Last time I went to Kruger was December 07. The flights were expensive because its the best time of the year to go to south africa, I paid £750 for mine, but if you book more in advance I think you could get them for less.
I booked all of my kruger accomodation in advance, because you have to, otherwise they wont let you into the park unless you have everything pre-booked. It was really cheap. I think 2 night accomodation in our own little hut (it had everything you needed) cost me about £40. Its very easy to arrange by yourself, no need to pay stupid money for guided tours etc. The hire car from holiday autos for 10 days was £190. If you want some more specific info let me know or add me to msn.

I'd look at it this way, something with great sharp claws, teeth and is a noted killer of the same prey as you vs something with none of those attributes. Which one seems like the better option and least risky to go after? I don't know if the crocodile weighs up the choices like that but it doesn't seem entirely unreasonable for it not to go after another predator that could do it harm unless it has to.

I thought that might be the case. I know on land a Lion can easily kill a crocadile and often lions will attack crocs when see them on land, I've seen this on video. But in the water I was wondering whether things swing in the crocadiles favour.

that was a fantastic video. ive never seen rudetube b4.

this one however made really made me go omg.

**** me.

Now I'm a cold, heartless abstrad at the best of times but one thing that always makes me weep like a bitch with a skinned knee is when tame animals do things for their owners/keepers.

Kickass elephant.

If the crocodile can get the lion into the water where it has much less traction to launch its attacks from and it is an unfamiliar environment then the crocodile will certainly have an advantage but it still only needs one lucky swipe of the claws to potentially blind the crocodile. It's just not a good risk to take if you are a predator and there are easier targets available, again I don't know how a crocodile weighs risk (if indeed it does do so conciously) but from a human point of view it wouldn't make sense.
