I'm wondering, considering I already have the Source version, if there was any point in getting the original. Is there any difference? Was there anything not brought through to the source update? It's just that Op Force and Blue Shift are both 99p each on Steam, making the Half-Life 1 Anthology cheaper only if I intend on getting Half-Life.

The source version is exactly the same, except it contains a very basic level of the physics engine present in HL2 (most noticable when jumping from dangling crate to dangling crate a few levels in).

Thanks guys, that's what I was hoping. I'm now the proud owner of said exp. packs. And a few other things on top of that. Damn you, Steam! :o

After reading about the Steam sale I thought it was time I took a bit of a look. Unfortunately I looked at left for dead @ £20 and while the valve pack was only £20 more.... so I now have the valve pack and the id pack. Lots of half life two and expansions and a whole raft of the Doom era.

I agree, curse Steam, that's near £60 spent though Half life is great and I've been having a blast through the original Doom. Much easier than trying to get old floppies to run under XP or Vista.

Does anyone still play half life MP ? Have to say at 12x10 it still looks a good game. Will fire up the other PC and try it at 24" tomorrow!

I think I have enough games to keep me going to xmas 2009.

The main difference i noticed with the source update was the water effect.

Isn't some group doing an entire remake of the original?

I've got both versions. I'll snap a few screenshots to compare them both if you want but the difference isn't much with the water being the biggest.

Other difference is that your guns are no where near as accurate in HL:S.

Use the MG in HL:S then try the same in HL, you'll find stuff dies much quicker in HL.
