Pizzas -worst value fast food?

Making my own! Hadn't thought about it before, but i do like Pizza's so might be worth looking into.

Have a look at the BBC food website, quite a few recipees on there - I started with Anthony Warrel Thompson's and have tweaked it over the last couple of years to get something I consider good (we have homemade pizza every friday night).

Great thing with making yourself is that you can experiment, hand spreading vs rolling pin, different flour - go mad, and even if it doesn't work out it's quite hard to make a bad pizza so it should still taste good. Finally, you can make a Calzone which only smaller italian pizza restaurants will do over here.

Just put down that phone and accept that Dr O have a PhD in awesomeness. They are so much better than the carp you get from a takeaway.

i have to admit however much i like pizza.... ordering it when out in a restaurant is CRIMIAL!!!!! as with many pasta dishes, i feel they just arent worth the money you pay for them :( (especially as most of them are just on par with many frozen/chilled pizzas)
Eh, going to Pizza Express and ordering a Pizza? It's madness I know. I also don't agree that frozen/chilled pizzas are up to par, a few aren't bad but they're usually in the £4-5 range which is criminal!

Im usually OK with pizzas. I pay about £8.50 and get a 12" Kebab pizza with garlic, a large garlic dip and then I get a 9" pizza for free. All delivered to my door. Cant complain.

Anyone had one of them double decadence things from Dominoes? Id love to try one but am kinda put off paying £10 for a pizza.

I don't eat them anymore (am off bread) but when I did, Asda make your own ones were the donny don of pizza

+ lazy mans option (water) and there you go, an easy and (reasonably tasty) flat base. You can add yeast and stuff to it if you want something that tastes nicer if you can be bothered. (I assume that's what you mean about being off bread?):)

I bet everyone else around you does :p

Do it. Seriously.

I've been making my own for the last 4 months or so. Tonight the gf didn't want to wait for me to make the dough and cook it so we ordered a takeway one and to be frank it was crap compared to home made ones.

If you have to buy a pizza I've found Pizza Express frozen ones to be the nicest, especially the American Hot or Sloppy Guieseppe(with the onions taken off).

Here's a website about making them yourself to get you started. http://www.recipepizza.com

Pizza is, in essence, cheese on toast, there must be huge profits to be made.
It's so easy to make your own, pizza dough's a doddle, a carton of Passata, some grated mozzarella and a few toppings of your choice, I reckon you could knock up a dozen 14" pizzas with two meats, peppers and olives and have change from a tenner.

Your clearly buying the wrong Pizza.

ASDA make your own, under £4 for a massive Pizza with your own toppings. Add some Garlic Mayo and its budget food tastic!

No mate, off wheat products in general. Turns out I am intolerant to wheat.

And guess what most alcohol is made from :(

Fortunately if I drink beer or eat bread I don't get ill, just bloat up like I am preggers!

Just drink Cider, Wine etc not all bad.

And Papa Luigis are the best.

yeah... a year ago i'd buy a large pizza near twice a week... £10 a pop

given up on fastfood completely... why pay £10+ for some greasy pizza that leaves you feeling awful afterwards when you can go down the butchers/veg shop and get a good 3 meals for the same money

Because it requires effort. You dont buy a Pizza because its 'good value for money and a dam fine meal', you buy it because it requires zero effort and is ready fast.

Have you seen a Dietician? I spent quite a while thinking I was gluten intolerant and it turns out it's modified starch not gluten.

Nah just worked out that when i eat bread, pasta or drink beer i bloat up....

Its comedy. I have avoided all wheat for a week and was back to reasonably flat tummy :) Had a bread roll with dinner and now look like I am expecting twins.
