Cheap to run heater?

Got a Tefal 6366 X-Tenso @ home myself, the economy mode is enough to warm my room up to a very warm temp in 30 minutes... Always used it in winters in the morning to warm up my feet and body while I'm still in bed, great heater imo. Very cheap too...

It's 2,4kw so it might eat power, but I use it only for half an hour a day most, and often also in non peak times so at half price power times... It only uses 4x more power than my pc which is on like 14 hrs a day, so heating up my room for 30 mins is no prob I guess for elec costs...

I stick my feet at the back of my pc's case, quad at 3.8ghz chucks a nice amount of heat out the back.:D

Dude your answer is Halogen (if you don't manage to fix your radiator that is), search for '800 WATT PORTABLE ELECTRIC HALOGEN QUARTZ HEATER' on the bay, they are as cheap as chips, well almost, they cost about £12 inc delv, they are small and not very imposing, they are very simple but quite effective at putting out heat, I used to use 2kw fan heaters until I discovered these baby's, 800watts may still sound like allot but for the amount of heat they give off they are very cost effective, they manage to heat my large double room up to around 24 degrees Celsius and then I switch it to one bar @ 400watts and it keeps the room toasty for as long as I like.

There in no real cheap solutions when it comes to heating but halogen is a good compromise compared to fan heaters, old fashioned bar fire heaters and convector heaters etc.

Also dude, don't get the large Halogen heaters that go up to 1200watts, they are like having a floodlight in your room, I brought one home one day and just lol'd when I turned it on, these mini ones just emit a warm orange glow that isn't over powering, I'd say just a bit brighter than the old bar fire heaters which isn't too bad tbh.

Cost of running, well I run mine for about 7 hours a day (or night rather) the first hour or two I run the heater in dual bar mode (800watts) and the remaining hours in single bar mode (400watts), I have estimated that it is coasting me around £3.50/£4 a week which isn't bad really.

Sex and lots of it!

Or you could go out and get your self a bar heater:)(The ones with oil inside)

2000W Oil Heater
on 2 hours a day in the morning to warm the place up.
For 20 cold days in Jan
For 10 cold days in Feb
(total of approx 60 hours on for the quarter) at 11p a unit.

Will cost you an extra £14 on your bill for the quarter.

Simple. Just make sure you don't leave it turned on for 10 hours for 3 of the days like I did. ;) Otherwise that turns into an extra £30

This might help too : http://www.ukpower.co.uk/running-costs-elec.asp
