So when we beat Man United we have Spurs in the next round? I'll take that.

You dont know how true that is, look at the stike partnership United have today, Berbatoss and Welbeck.

Both Tevez and Rooney are fit, no Ronaldo on the pitch.

Its a nonsense.

*edit* Tevez is still on holiday? he had all summer to have a holiday!

Newcastle v Millwall or Crewe.

At home, check.
Non-Premier League team, check.

Nice! :p

You have the small matter of Hull to get past first.

Whats with all the villa bashing in this thread? Seems to be happening a lot lately.. can't you "big 4" bum-chums handle us nipping at your heels?

As a neutral i'm quite disgusted with Villas attitude to this game. The players have shown no respect to Gillingham and as a spectator, seeing all this diving does not do the Premier League any justice.

The penalty was a joke, would love Gillingham to equalise. I'm also quite annoyed with the attitude of Martin O'Neill, one of my favourite PM managers. Every time a Villa player is touched hes complaining and/or crying on the touchline and its not great to see, especially as the match hasn't been overly physical at all. I just don't think he expected Gillingham to actually want to win today.

We were literally battered off the pitch. Admittedly they played pretty well but we couldn't get going because we were getting clattered into and hacked down at every opportunity. You should know, your lot have a habit of doing that to people..

*Had* a habit, you look at our yellows and reds over the last 2 seasons and most of them were not justified. Most pundits and fans will also admit that referees still give us a hard time based on those 6 months after Hughes took over. Anyway, we're not here to talk about Blackburn are we (not until tomorrow at least).

You didn't get clattered any more than you would in a normal premier league game, most of these challenges were nothing tackles and this was often shown by your players going down, only to get back up once they were sure they had a free kick. One of the stand out ones for me was Knights drop to the floor after the keeper punched the ball away. No contact to the head but he dropped to the floor clutching the back of his skull and stayed down, forcing the referee to stop a legitimate Gillingham attack.

I by no means want to sound like the neutral who wants a cup upset, i've got a lot of respect for Villa but the manner in which they played and acted today was not befitting of a premier league side.

I didn't think it made contact at first, but the replay showed he took a fair whack in the back of the head. I'd imagine you wouldn't get straight up from that if it was you. Ashley Young took a hell of a beating in that game, any time he tried to break he got absolutely flattened.
