With the Euro = the pound for the moment you would think that steam would have cottoned on to this fact but for the moment they seem determined to exclude me as a customer.

Let's take 5 top rated games as an example.

Left4dead steam 45€ online shop 29£ delivered

COD:WAW steam 50€ online shop 29£ delivered

Fallout3 steam 45€ online shop 27£ delivered

GTA IV steam 50€ online shop 24£ delivered

I used to be a fan of steam but until they allow me to choose my currency the UK stores will be having my cash.

:o

They aren't they only ones at it either PS3 still using an exchange rate of 64p per € on their PS store.

Don't see why we can't buy from any PS store in europe instead of being boxed in depending on our country. :(

Yes I know they are screwing us europeans :(.
I mean come on:

50 Euros = 47.8832319 British pounds

So we have to pay 20 quid more for the same game GRRRR.

I have filled this in:

http://ec.europa.eu/competition/forms/consumer_form.html

The company called Valve (valvesoftware.com) is discriminating it's European customers. Since they added a so called "European Local Currency" to their store the prices went up by at least 27% up for all residents in European Union, the worst thing is that United Kingdom (Great Britain) has LOWER prices, which simply shows that VALVE doesn't treat it's European customers equally - which is against the European law. Their exchange rate of currency is outrageous, for example a product worth $19.99 was "converted" to €19.99. Official news regarding the European currency: www.store.steampowered.com/news/2110/.
(change it a little bit if you want).
Another Example is the game Grand Theft Auto IV: It costs 24 GBP for UK residents while it costs 49,99 euros for EU residents... As you may know 24 GBP is only +-26 € at the current exchange rates.

Those prices are insane for you Euro customers, I don't know how Valve expect any of you to buy off them when the same games must be much cheaper in shops. It really needs to be changed but Valve seem to be dragging their feet with this even though they have been criticised so much and they must be losing business across Europe.

What's worse, if we use US proxy's and buy like that, they will ban you from steam, even though there is nothing about it in the licence agreement...

Only way to do this cheaply is to let people in the UK buy you the games as gifts... Then transfer the money simply with your bank or stuff like paypal to the guy in the UK.

Retailers here are only a bit cheaper but yeah I only buy from steam if it's cheaper than in shop. I really want to buy from this UK competitor with free delivery, compared to that it's like half price games. Problem is I ain't got a ****ing Credit card as I'm not 18, luckily 3 more months and I can get a Visa or Mastercard and stop being ripped off, but it's always been annoying...

This isn't new. All the companies do this! Take a look at MMO subscription prices, for example! $8.99 in USA, £8.99 in UK. :/

Yeah, but up until a month ago all prices were in dollars, the same price for everybody everywhere. That is what has people mad, it was perfect then they ****** it up.

Us gamers in England have only just started NOT being ripped of by Steam. Steam was in dollars barely a month ago and we were having to pay a fortune what with the way the exchange rate worked out.

I'm sure they'll get it fair in the Euro eventually, I hope for your sake it doesn't take as long as it did with the pound.

nah it was far from perfect im pretty sure something like left 4 dead would have cost £35 (now £27) with the old price for us in the uk

give it time they will fix it eventually

If any europeans want anything purchasing on STEAM, I dont mind accepting Paypal gifts then gifting the games to you if it means you get the games cheaper :)

Ive been around here for a while and have a couple of positive feedbacks from the Members Mart so im not going to run away with your cash.

Hardly steams fault though? Rather paypals/clicknbuys/visa's/mastercard's fault for using greedy exchange rates ? Was much cheaper for me to buy it in dollars than now with the price in euros...

well aparently my steam acc is worth You own 108 Steam Games worth ~ $1258.03 //
865.456 GBP

i would look around online to see if games are cheaper , but if a game is like £4 less ill just Steam anyway as i cant be botherd to drive to town , which would cost £3-5 in petrol then £1 for parking fees

Yes i agree the prices are a ripoff (on some games) but the weekend deal's are great on some of the games!

Well my account is worth :
You own 37 Steam Games worth ~ $442.68

But I could have saved much more by proper pricing...

Isnt the Euro Pricing only a beta? Meaning you can just turn it off?

And come off it guys, your complaining about Steam games being expensive, yet EVERYTHING ELSE in the UK is currently shafting us!

Nope its enforced, if you try to circumvent it, to pay in another currency your account is disabled.

The complaint is that all Steam Games were unjustifiably increased in price at the flick of switch, depending on where you live, under the false pretense of making prices more transparent. Deception won't win any company future custom.

To be honest it doesn't really affect me that much, I'll buy somewhere else. It's just the blatant disregard Valve had for their customers paying in Euro is surprising.
