Because I'll happily load a 50kg plate one handed on a machine.
Anyone know what is a good starting point? 100lbs?

Nah get 2 20kg plates together, flat side facing outwards and try again
then try this...
I woulnt start on the number ones unless you consider yourself fairly 'trained' If youd feel very comfortable holding 100-120kg on a bar (deadlift style) you should be able to close the number 1's
snip
well all i know is that i can close the no2's JUST and my grip on deadlift gives out around 210kg. But i think static hold vs dynamic movment plays a big role
I was DLing around 230 when i closed the #2, but i've never failed a max deadlift due to grip.
Yeah just hold them to your side pinching them with your thumb and fingers and hold as long as you can.
Well just placed an order for the 1's from IronMind Enterprises in the USA ended up costing me £24.00 not sure if I will have to pay import duty ?
I guess I should have got the 2's at the same time oh wellwasn't thinking
didn't want to go with Kettlebells version probably really good but I want that record when I close the 4's![]()
Big difference between the ones and 2's m8 so dont worry yet. The 4's require something special to close, its not just a matter of training grip for those ones, its genetics and excellence in all areas of strength sports, even hand size will come into it!
I've got small handsWell actually my fingers are slim, my hands are quite thick, but just not very big.
