Wallet in old Nokia 6630

Hi,
I use a 6630 as a backup phone. I just updated the OS on it. I backed up before updating... the memory card is not encrypted...

The phone updated successfully... the problem came when I restored the contents back to the phone... the Wallet is empty.

Before updating, I checked to see if the wallet code can be removed. There was no option like that, so I assumed that backup will be able to backup and restore the wallet even if the wallet itself is protected (by just copying the encrypted content).

What gives? Does backup not save the wallet info??? It warns about removing encryption from the mem card, but gave no warning about the "wallet".

I had the more critical info written down else where from the wallet, but still would like to access other stuff that was there.

Is my wallet gone??

Thanks

What in gods name is the "wallet"?
:D It's an app on the Nokia 6630 that stores private info and protects it with a password. It's not related to encryption of the whole mem card though. There should be no reason that pc suite backup wouldn't be able to copy the encrypted data of it. If it backs it up at all

** Anyone know how to how to completely reset the phone back to factory-everything?... so I could try the restore operation from scratch... That way the wallet would would be blank again to start with... perhaps allowing the wallet to restore properly.

Hold down * - 2 - Green button at the same time, then turn on the power, release the power key, wait a while and then release the three keys.

Thanks for suggestion, but it didn't do anything except switch on the phone and then asked for the PIN as usual. I tried 4 times.

I was thinking though that it sounds odd that you could so easily reset a phone while bypassing the personal PIN.

I wonder if the Phone Updater would let me re-update even if I have the latest OS on there now.

Just really strange that the backup would not warn about the Wallet if it does not back it up at all. The "wallet" utility is standard for the 6630.
