Great prices for sure - it's been fun watching the thread and the stock levels (rather than working) :p

However...Call me a old seasoned cynic but I'm a little suprised that O/C are knocking these out so cheaply before the launch of the refreshed models.

I wonder if the pricing will be either similar or lower than GTX280 (after the first couple of weeks anyway)

Before the replies, I know I know, exchange rates down the pan, rip off UK etc etc. but I just wonder.

If not, I've missed a bargain and I'll be mighty peeved ;)

How was it at STOCK (602 i guess?) compared to the XFX Black (666)? Still better?

What were the temps like at stock?

G

Running around 44C idle and 77C load at stock. The Black Edition used to run at around those temps too, Suppose I never really got much beyond that as it would crash within seconds of going past 77C in Furmark.

Actually, just played COH for an hour on 640/1150 and the fan was barely spinning up compared with in Furmark so I reckon it's safe on the whole.

First impressions of the Leadtek now I've had it running for a while.

Slightly (if at all) faster than the XFX Black Edition I'm RMAing, but at least it don't crash when under load (not yet anyway).

Got it at a relatively conservative 640/1150 and it's running Furmark stability test ok but BOY is it running hot - tops at about 93C after a few mins. Does this seem excessive? Reading around quite a few are running this card higher than this, so I take it these temps are ok.

I wouldn't push it any further, 105 is a the cut off heat wise. Check this out for what to expect if you go over:

Just had half an hour flat out in COD4 and it didn't go over 75C so I'm a little happier now that it can handle the overclock.

Interesting clip, if you can put up with the pillock talking through it (apologies if he's related;)). Thought these things were supposed to close down once they hit critical temps to avoid damage.

Don't worry he's not related, though the potential birthday presents you'd get if he was your uncle would be pretty good. Yeah, I thought they were supposed to shut off too, glad I can cuddle up to my 10 year BFG warranty.

I am suspicious as well, since the cuts makes you wonder if the price difference upon 285 release will be minimal between the two cards. So 280 stock needs to be cleared out before hand due to very large surplus volumes on certain lines. :) Yes the difference in performance is minimal between the two when 280 is overclocked, but the 285's power savings (and 2nd hand market value when I’m done with it), could make the 285 a worthwhile investment should the price difference be very minimal.

I had my heart set on the 1024MB 4870 one. At this price though it's kind of drop kicked my heart out of place and I'm swithering. Shame I've still got to wait another month before I can buy components.

I'm sure Yewen will create a seperate thread stating that they will be the first in the UK to get stock of the new cards when the time is appropriate :)
Fixed ;)

Im so tempted by a cheap GTX280 but Ive vowed never to get top of the range and get the one below - the X850XT PE just hurt me so much :p

ps3ud0
