far cry 2 AA question

ive had problems with far cry 2 since released

i have a 4870 x2 max settings (1920 by 1080) when ever i apply 8X AA performance is awful had this problem with my 4870 Xfire too
im using the latest 8.12s with a fresh install aswell?

is this a common problem with far cry 2 i would have thought i could have used 8X AA with my video card

The 4800 series cards are supposed to be really good at anti aliasing. Maybe try apply the AA in the control panel instead of the game?

Try setting CCC to app controlled and then change the drop-down box from edge-detect to box. I read that the game does not use (or can't do) edge-detect correctly.

hi thanks for tip, i have now decided to get rid of my 4870 X2 as fed up with constant problems with lots of games performing below par

Sometimes one powerfull single card is less hassle. I think at 1920x1200 you'll be fine. I use a 4870 1Gb and it's ok. Perhaps get a GTX280 as the prices are good now. I think the Leadtek is the cheapest.

hi thanks for your reply i have a GTX 280 arriving tommorow now have to shift the 4870 X2 as its only 2 weeks old
