just got my new antec 300 case which is really nice got 5 120m case fans fitted but i have wires everywhere which is really effecting the airflow still waiting on my fan controller to arrive so i can maybe turn the fans up a bit more, does the fan controller just plug into the mo board then u connect the fans to it? my PSU wires are really big and stretched right over the mo board, the PSU it fitted at the bottom of the case so annoying, just would love some advice on how to hide such thick wires, this is my rig

What FSC have you gone for.

The two Zalmans I have had, have a ATX power connector then each fan connects to a 3 pin header, and 2 of the supplied cables have a cable which plugs into the motherboard header which give RPM readings.

If you have gone for Zalman fan mate then this gets power form the motherboard header.

i have 3 sharkoon fans they have a 4 pin head but also come with a 3 pin adapter, connected the 3pin adapter to the 4 pin plugged it in 2 my mo board but didnt work, gonna wait for my fan controller i think hopefully ill solve my prob

This is one of the biggest problems with the Antec 300/900/1200 cases. Poor cable management. Personally i think they look ghastly as well, but that's just me.

A fan controller will not let you run the fans any faster. They are a means of running fans slower. You will somehow have to sort out the cabling.

thats wat i meant sorry controlling the fans, the most annoying think about the case is the fact that the PSU is at the bottom and the power connecter from the PSU to the mo board is right at the top!!! i no the big 8800 doesnt help but i try and find a way around it, you have a prefrence on a good case with lots of space?

cheers

Personally i think that you can't go wrong with Silverstone and Lian Li but you also have to pay a lot more for them. The Hiper Anubis/Osiris are well regarded on here but i think that the shop is asking too much for them.

You have just bought your 300 though so you really don't want to spend more on another case do you? Have a look in the Case section to see if the guys have any solutions to the problems. I believe there is quite a large thread about the Antec cases.

thanks for your input mate i will look for the thread on the antec cases just one thing i have gutted my case now so going to try and orginize it a bit better im going to put my HD in the bottom slot of my 3.5inch bay this may sound silly so sorry but do u have to place it with the circuit board side down? and will it get enough air flow being at the bottom? i do have 2 120m fans on the front

cheers again

Poor cable management my arse!

Its not the case that makes the cables cluttered, its the owner :D

Note: I have no less than 8 x 120mm fans and 1 x 140mm fan. Not a cable in sight.

very nice mate gonna try sticking some of my wires to the top of the case with what ever i can find looks very tidy yours indeed!!

im going to stick with it i think, just trying to install my fan controller looks pretty straight 4ward only thing im not to sure about is the 4 sensors that came with it they are lablled cpu pci etc i just dont no how the fit onto these devices lol any ideas

Looking at the description, the 4 sensors are there for thermal monitoring.

I'd spread them around your case evenly ... i assume that the controller will then give you the highest temp so you can monitor your case temperature?

To be honest i wouldn't worry about the temperature in your case to much or the sensors, its the temperature of your actual components that you need to keep an eye on

And that can only be done via software such as 'everest'

cheers mate i thought they were pretty pointless really i use everest like u say pretty old version tho but does the trick got my cpu idle at 32c and my gpu idle at 50c so not to bad, there is 1 little prob i just cant get my head around tho, i have 5 fans 4 are connected to my controller and 1 to the mo board, the 1 connected to the mo board is the fan at the top of my case and its plugged into the power fan slot and its not spinning and the fan on the back of the case is connected to the controller but also not spinning very strange that these 2 fans are the ones already installed in the case when it arrived

any ideas to why this is

many thanks again

By the 'fan at the top' do you mean the 140mm big boy fan or the 120mm rear exhaust fan?

Quite simply i suspect that there is not enough voltage to power the fans, if you've put them all via your fan controller. I don't think your fans have broken if thats what your thinking ... just not enough juice to power them :)

Normally a PSU will have two clusters of molex (4 pin) cables ... type in molex into google images and you'll see the type i mean.

Try swapping the fan controller to the OTHER cable that comes out of your PSU with all the molex connectors on ... your current cable might be powering a host of other components and by the time the voltage gets to your fan controller it'll be all used up :)

This happened to me when i was using my old (multi rail) PSU, the two fans on the front of my Antec stopped running ... i spread them out over the two different cables and they started working again

thanks for the reply mate the molex cable that is plugged into the fan contoller has 3 plugs 1 is not used and the other 1 is plugged into my dvd drive, its only powering those 2 things from the PSU as for the one i have plugged into the mo board the extension cable i have has 2 four pin molex connecters male and female and an additional 2 three pins connecters from them male and female, i have connected the 4 pin molex from the fan to the 4 pin molex on the extension cable then plugged the three pin connecter attached to the molex on the extension cable into the power fan switch on the mo board, i have also set the fans to high on the switch to.

This is the cable i http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...=&name=Akasa 3-Pin to 4-Pin Adapter Cablehave

Apart from the 1 i have has two 4 pin molex cables and the 3 pin connecter only has 1 wire and its white so im guessing i may have the wrong extension cable lol think this is what i need

sorry for sounding confusing mate

thanks again

Hmm ...
i'll have to draw myself a diagram to understand what you just wrote so i'll have a proper think tomorrow at work when my misses isn't calling me ... BUT quickly, try plugging in the fans without the fan controller.

My Antec fans come with standard molex connectors, not the smaller 4 or 3 ping connectors, and hence i don't plug them into the mobo. If the fans work by pluggin them in directly, then your fan controllor (or converter leads) might be at fault.

Try and eliminate each lead too by swapping them with fans and molex connectors that you know do work ....

Good luck!
