Cool, should get round to installing my BFG OC on sat. My Pc can play warhead mainstream settings 2xaa fairly nicely, so this should be a big improvement if it can go V high with some AA. (my res is 1680).
Sure hope I don't regret waiting for a 55nm 285. About 10% extra performance for roughly 20% more cost (anyone?) sounds ok to me. My budget was originally £230 but stretched to the BFG since I don't OC my cards for warranty reasons.
Anyone tell me where my new bottleneck will be in my system? I suspect the CPU...?
Maybe pushing the CPU up a bit more to 3.6 or so might give your 280 a bit more room to work with

Once i've benched it at 3.2 i'll give that a go and see what the improvement is, thanks. I'd like to get there on stock volts if possible, I don't like much the idea of increasing the vcore.
One of my brothers has same chip as you, running 3.6Ghz+ (Cant remember exacty) with 1.4vcore 24/7, and has done for the last year or so. You have Noctua cpu cooler so why not try, your be fine right upto 1.4 on air and even 1.5 with extreme air cooling.

I missed out but im proberly going to buy a ati radeon 4850x2 next month i know were they are selling them for 250 free postage.

i think this thread has p***** every single GTX260-216 owner off.
it has done for me anyways...
gutted can not discribe it, its more of an anger.
i spent so long deciding what would be the best choice, and less than 4 days later the prices of GTX280's fly down to the same level. Im stunned as to how bad ones luck can be. im disgusted, horrified.
now im watching people buy a much better card for the same price i got a 260
/rant over but im still swearing.
