Situations have changed and I have about £3000 to spend on a car. Must be fairly practical as I ferry family around often. Pref 4/5door but not a absolute must.
A bit of power would be nice as I currently have a 120bhp mk5 astra.

Suggestions welcome!

Insurance should be ok, 23, garage, clean licence.

Not too fussed on the clio, seems a very capable car but, well its french. (very blinkered i know) Any other suggestions? Im a bit handy with a spanner so aint scared of a bit of diy repairing:)

Funnily enough I've been looking at this kind of situation as of late. I don't fancy a Clio 1x2 (bored of Renault after 9 years of em). :)

Toyota Corolla TSports seem to be around £3.5-4k. Not the best chassis out there, but 180ish bhp, 5 doors on later models and it's a a generally bomb car. I wanna drive one. :)

Tried to quote a accord type r and one was £400 more than a cupra and no one else would quote me.

ATR's are normally quite a bit cheaper than other performance cars.

I got quoted £800 at 22 with 0NCB - with Focus ST's/330i's/ST220's/CTR's all coming out between 1k-1.3k

st200 is 600 fc, st220 is 500, 328sport is 600. Im tempted between the st200 and the bmw328sport. what would be the best point to point car?

I've had my ST200 for coming up to two years, it's great :). Mine's a saloon which were a limited edition run and it's still very practical, excellent for long journeys with passengers. Generally good to drive, handles well for a big car, nicely planted and I enjoy taking it out round some twisties. Brakes could be better (same as any other Mondeo V6) and the traction control is primitive at best. Not bad running costs wise, 25-30mpg depending on driving and it's basically a Mondeo V6 so servicing is reasonable or do-able yourself.

I'll probably change it for something with two seats, no roof and RWD but I don't do many miles these days.
