Airsoft - Visiting 'Wolf Armouries' tomorrow!

Its part of the Violent Crime Reduction Bill... to start with they were going to ban airsoft weapons all together, sale and ownership of them.
it came about partly because of the types of numpties who had/buy these things and wander about the street with them, taking pot shots at cats and kids on bikes etc.
I dont think I'd count them as toys, not when some rifles are kicking the bb's out at over 400fps.

My one would knock out 365 fps, it just really stings!

Dont go to wolf armouries IMO. They rip people off simply because customers don't know better, new people to the sport don't realize that there are much cheaper (but perhaps less well known) places.

Could you suggest alternatives, their Draganov sniper is like £1000 :o

http://www.airsoftworld.net/ are good prices, delivery and good response when contacted, they are based up in scotland.

If you dont mind bit of a wait, but want the best prices then go to http://www.wgcshop.com/
WGC is basicaly where all companies in the UK (and most airsoft retailers worldwide) get their goods from, so its very cheap. Only downside is that its based in hong kong, and all goods are sold in USD, so it may not be quite as worthwhile at the moment untill the £:$ gets better. WGC have a better selection then anyone else though, its where i got my TM G36C (along with upgrades and conversion kit to MG36), my webbing and my amazing AICS (one of the best sniper rifles for sale IMO).

lol you're allowed a toy gun but only if it's painted a bright colour. Surely criminals can just paint real guns luminous yellow :p

That can't be right I found a Tigr variant of the real thing for that much (45,000 rubles), probably less if you know where to look or speak to. You'd have to jump though loads of hoops to get it imported though I'd imagine. Am I right that only handguns have been banned but you're still allowed rifles as long as you have the correct licence?

need to play at least once every six months to keep the UKARA license valid, incidentally.

nah you just need a check against your name to be made once a year (I.e when you buy a gun they will check your details)

as said before Wolf are pretty overpriced and there are plenty of other cheaper retailers around, although most prices have gone up recently due to the exchange rate!

If you want to get into airsoft then before you go buying a gun i recommend going to a skirmish and renting some kit a few times to see if you like it. It can be an expensive sport to get into (if you want to go into for the sport side of it rather then target shooting in your garden or something).

And yes, compared to real guns airsoft weapons do seem to be priced too high for what they are, but with airsoft weapons you can go to a skirmish and have some fun shooting other people, some places even do multiple day airsoft events using MOD land that is used for real training (these events take place with the MODs permission).

thats because their Dagunov is the gas-powered, semi-auto G&P one, which is actually made out of large amounts of real dragunov parts.

its expensive because it's old and rare. (it's also LOUSY)

sure, a real dragunov would be cheaper, but you can't shoot your friends with one.

well, not more than once anyway :p

handguns are Section 5
semi-auto rifles in calibres larger than .22LR are Section 5
Bolt action rifles in any calibre are Section 3, as are shotguns

so, you can't have a dragunov because they're Sec5 :(

if you bought them at a time before the VCR bill came in, like me over the last 10 years then you are legally allowed to keep what guns you have and buy parts or accessories for them. Just not buy anymore unless you are registered with a site.

hmm

should i add our AK / M16 to my dad/brother's gun licences in that case?

i bought them both last year before you needed a licence for them..

If you bought them before the licencing thing you don't need to do anything with them.

Just carry on using them properly and responsibly.

The licence is only to buy anyway, not to own.

cool

does 'responsibly' include shooting the crap out of my brother after he jumps out of a taxi?
