Colonoscopy tomorrow - hate the prep!

Anyone else had one of these? The stuff they make you drink before hand is the most vile stuff ever. It is just muck. Not feeling too pleasant at present! Anyone else had one of these done? Guess it won't be too bad if they give you sedation!

Not had one myself, but my wife has just been booked in to have one in a couple of weeks. She's not looking forward to it at all. The consultant told us that she will be sedated, so I have to be with her since she won't be in any fit state drive back.
 
:( My deepest sympathies mate. Hope you end up all clear. I got diagnosed with IBS on monday and was told if certain things happen again much over the next few months I'll have to take a lube tube up my ahole.

If this happens (fingers crossed not) I'll sing : 'lu lu lu I got some apples, lu lu lu'

try having a prostrate biopsy... a thing shoved into your a-hole AND then they stick needles in you!!! :eek:
 
I was in getting an op done (minor surgery) before christmas, chap in the same ward was due for a colonoscopy so had been given the "Flush" drug. Let's just say he never made it quite as far as the toilet :eek:

Lol - it happens apparently but I'm within 5 seconds of the gents just incase!

Not sure what it will find tomorrow but possibly IBS/IBD as has been mentioned.

They're putting camera in your bum for IBS :( If you don't think it's wierd can I add you on MSN as I'd like to be able to share/learn from someone else with this and who has been through this experience (please :))

You will find my email in trust - IBS is only diagnosed once everything else is ruled out. I think IBD is the main thing to be looked at but I won't post the medical details as might lead towards rule breaches perhaps.
 
I'd get one of those seated toilet thing's on a wheelchair mate, you'll need it at some point, unless your intending to sit on the toilet for an hour straight.

I've had it done though, twice actually, as if once wasn't enough!

I had sedative, but it doesn't really do much, It depends er...How far they are going, if they get to the bit where they have to cross the front of your stomach area, have fun ;) It hurt me, they have to blow air down the tube to open up the intestine more so it's easier to go across.
