Hi, first post and a bit of a d'oh moment.

So, I bought a Vortexx Neo. I somehow managed to miss that the one card it seems not to support is the GTX 8800.

Anyone have any experience bolting one of these onto a GTX 8800 anyway*1? My card is a XFX 768 MB one.

Thanks.

*1 Alternatives are sending it back under distance selling regs or finding a friend to flog it to.

I haven't looked yet - it's still in the box - hence asking if anyone has any experience with it.

Are there any good after market cooling options for the GTX 8800 apart from that ridicululously large TR3 thing?

Or should I just not bother - I'm not overclocking, but it does get to 80 degrees under load, and mid 60s idle. (rest of the sytem runs between 30 and 50 depending on load.)

80 degrees load is nothing for an 8800GTX. A lot of them get quite a bit warmer again. I wouldn't worry if I were you, unless you want it quieter.

Just download Rivatuner, and then manually change the fan speed from 60%, will keep it much cooler :)

Just to let you know i have 2 8800gtxs in sli and watercooled. It makes a hell of a difference i play crysis all settings very high and cards go to 36 37 max even after a few hrs just a thought depending on how worried you are with your temps.

The cooler won't fit the G80 core that the GTX and early GTS 320/640 cards have, it's for the newer G92.

I have a G80 GTS and I can't have the fan above 65% as it's too loud. It get's quite noisy ingame, and temps when stressed to reach almost 90 in cases, especially when the room has a warm ambient temp. This time of year it just tops 80 deg. It is the OC2 model, so does have an overclock, which will affect this. I can hear the fan spin up quite loud when gaming, especially fallout 3, seems to stress it a lot.
