Hi all,

I know it's probably been asked loads before (I apologize if it has), but I have searched, and came up with nothing of real use.

Here's my question: Does anybody know of any good guitar cleaning guides, preferably with pictures, recommended products etc. as I have 2 old guitars that really need a good clean.

Thanks in advance.

A lint free cloth and a weak form of isopropyl alcohol should clean most of the wooden parts effectively. Any metal work, any decent brand polish and other lint free cloth would do.

If it is an intricate and dusty guitar, compressed air might be useful too.

I use guitar polish on the body and lemon oil on the frets. Not to be used on maple fret boards, though...

I also use fast fret on the fretboard, just make sure I give it a thorough wipe with the cloth to get rid of any greasyness

Hmm, I always thought it was lemon oil for frets, string cleaner for strings, then a quick polish of the body with whatever they sold at the shop, job done.

Mine's getting repaired at the moment, time to investigate what new and fantastic cleaning products are available to keep it in good shape!
