Has it really come to this? Trying to save 5-10p on a £1 item? That's assuming your not wanting to buy hundreds/thousands of the things!

He will be doing what a lot of people are doing and stocking up. Heard something about folk buying them by the hundred ahead of them being discontinued.

May as well save what you can.

Spec me a supermarket to buy lightbulbs from, ive narrowed it down to Tescos, Asda, Sainsburys and Morrisons. MY LIFE DEPENDS ON THIS HELP ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rolleyes:

I seem to have missed something (not unusual for me!). Why are they being discontinued? Or are we specifically talking about non-energy efficient bulbs being discontinued at some point in time?

Edit: I got my answer from cheets64 while I was typing out this post.

Some retailers have seen sales of the 100-watt varieties triple overnight, with buyers stockpiling by asking for hundreds at once instead of the usual 10 or 20.

Supermarkets and DIY chains are already running low on the bulbs, having begun to phase them out some months ago as part of a voluntary agreement with the Government. The light bulbs are expected to be scrapped altogether by September 2012, pending the outcome of a European Union vote on the issue.

This can not be argued against. Lightbulbs sell at damn near to cost these days, doesn't matter where you go

Your post fails because you wont be able to find any energy-wasting saving light bulbs in the supermarkets they have all sold out.

Sainsburys no longer sell the 2 packs of 60 watt bulbs. So you'll have to wait until the 4 packs are released. Not sure of the release date.
