OcUK Poker tonight

Well done to dr_teeth84, alastair84, yes I was frustrated but no hard feelings.

Congrats to Darkmage88 for winning. What an achievement, considering you didn't win a game hehe. You get to keep the signature to display proudly.

I'd like to say thank you to everyone that took part (a total of 88 different players) and fully we will have a bigger and better championship next year.

Here is the final spreadsheet.

The top 10 final standings

  1. Darkmage88
  2. Happy
  3. beer66
  4. Mosses99p
  5. Silent_Lucid
  6. Blackvault
  7. Mr Beaver
  8. Gillywibble
  9. Benjamin2909
  10. Tom0

We'll be running another league next year. Any comments, suggestions or criticisms make them known to me.

Its consistency that does it ;) (Well minus the first and last week...) Well played all, and thanks Black for organising it!

Two suggestions

1.) As above - a year is too long. Need to cut the championships down to three months (a quarter).

2.) You also need to count the scores of only eight games rather than 12 in this three month period (if someone played all games you take their top 8 scores). This means people can afford to miss a few games and still have their top scores for some of the games counted.

This will make it fairer and allow people to have a week off if they need and therefore increase the chances of people joining and staying in this tournament.

This is what other places do.

Ok I'll kick the idea about. Does sound a good idea.

They both sound like good suggestions to me. Could always sum the scores over a whole year to get a grand champion, but still have mini results through out the year, i.e. every quarter. Giving people the chance to have a few weeks off is good too, although whether that'll make beer unstoppable or not :P

Yes, if it is going to be a yearly tournament you would typically only count the top scores of 30 weeks.

Want to play every week? Fine! The more dedication shown the higher you can try to make your score.

Can't play every week? Still fine, only the top 30 weeks scores are counted!

Otherwise people miss a few weeks and then give up because they have no hope of winning!

I'd be up for a bit of this.

What time, how do I find it?

Go to Stan James and download the software and sign up to the site (it's free).

Someone will host the room for Sundays game and then they will hand out the password. Take part, have a good time and hopefully win!
