Morning all,

Just wondering if anyone has good suggestions of where to go for a dose of sun during the first week of March? Have looked into Mexcio but as they all seemingly are priced in US$, it is not looking like great value. Looking to spend no more than £1,000 per person for me and the other half so any good experiences, suggestions would be very welcome! Not looking to fly more than 9 hours, and hoping to avoid Thailand as had bad experiences there in the summer with the airports!

Thanks

My girlfriend and I went to Tunisia last year... cant remember the month, but it was after March. It was very hot, great value for money everywhere, and we both had a really great time. I would go back there in a heart beat!

Is that £1000 each or £1000 for the both of you?

If it's each then you can just about get to the Maldives for that. The gf and I did that at March 2007 and it was awesome. You will have to go for the cheapest of the accomodation on that budget but we did and had no problem what so ever.

**edit** - I cant read, its pp so you could probably make it there, although the flight for us was more like 11 hours I think, but it's worth it!

Is £1,000 each - Maildives might be a bit far to fly and think we'd rather try somewhere we can get higher spec accomodation with our budget...thanks for the info though! Will have a look at Tunisia - hadn't considered that at all!

India would be great but sadly she's been in the last 2 years and wants to go somewhere different!!

Last year we went to Hammamet in Tunisia, it great for viewing the historic sites of Carthage and the museums and the beach, sun and big waves in the sea are awesome, but I did find it extremely annoying when having a meal out you would be constantly interrupted by kids asking for money and food and they dont take no for an answer, I had to shout and bang the table to get rid of them. The worse bit is the restuarant owners are happy to let them harress their patrons.

So it has its good and bad points, but i wouldnt go back there again in a hurry.

Seconded, I went to Jasmine Hammamet as well, they bug you on the beach too. One guy tried selling us a couple bananas and oranges for 30 dinar, do they think we're all mugs?

you have to consider Croatia too....on the coast somewhere and at least visit Dubrovnik if not for its beauty and history alone :)

Egypt, Greece, Italy, South Africa, India, Costa Rica?

Id recommend the Canary Islands in particular Fuerteventura weather is usually brilliant around March time, and it'll be well within your budget.
