Hello,

I am in the process of changing my case fans to sharkoon ones which are a lot quieter than these silly led things. I am Surprisingly still running my 350 watt psu with my ati4850 and I have had no problems at all with it over the last 7 months etc. However the fan in the psu is also very noisy so in regards to making my rig quiter I am thinking of replacing the psu to a new one which is quieter. This is where i need some advice as regards to which ones to go for. I don't want to spend more than £50 and cheaper the better so long as the fan is quiet. Also I am thinking of getting say a 650 watt psu. I know my 350 watt works fine but If I am going to upgrade the psu I might as well get a higher wattage. Any advice please.

My spec machine
Ati4850
Duo core E8400
4gig vista gold memory
gigabyte mobo p45 or something

Not recommended to change PSU fan & even dangerous. Besides how do you know current one isn't noisy because of heavy load?

As mentioned go for Corsair or Enemarx. The latter I can vouch for their silence ;)

the fan in your psu is chosen by the manufacturer to move a certain volume of air in the psu to keep it cool now if you replace it with a quite one but with a lower rating (in CFM) then your psu may overheat or worse blow.

I can also recommend the Zalman range of psu these are very quite psu.

I've got a Corsair 550W VX , and there's a definite low hum constantly, which has now become the loudest thing in the pc (I've made everything else quieter, now I need to change this )
