£50,000,000

Perhaps some people don't wish to play it every week and instead choose to play it on "special" occasions, like people who only put money on the Grand National and not the normal races throughout the year?

Nothing hard to understand about that.

But it's not really a special occasion that can be compared to the Grand National. It's like every other draw.

I could understand if your theorey was true but I don't believe it is. I honestly believe that people only do it because of the high figure with the mindset that any lesser figure wouldn't be worth wasting their couple of quid on.

Out of interest, do people here think that your chances of winning the euromillions jackpot are lower than the national lottery because more people play the game?

They're much lower because you need 7 numbers unless it can't rollover.

Of course it is, however, some who don't normally play are probably well aware that the chance of winning is tiny and decide to have "a flutter" when the jackpot is high, as it is tonight, rather than spend money on every draw.

I believe the runner up prize amounts increase as the jackpot grows too.

It's all about risk and return :p

I presume the EuroMillions is a better game to play at the moment, because we pay less for our tickets than the rest of Europe (it's two euros for them, but a pound is only worth 1.12 euros today so £1.50 a ticket is a decent amount cheaper).
