At what point do you get a key?

I filled out the form, recieved the verification email, verified and signed in with my live ID but all I repeatedly get is "The site is currently experiencing technical difficulties, please check back in the next business day."

wow ive just seen the form for the furst time today but after i clicked continue i was back to the familiar "server is too busty"

I think you'll recieve the key in another email. I suspect it will go.

1) Recieve email.
2) Confirm address.
3) Sign in.
4) Press 'Continue' (hopefully get passed the error page)
5) Recieve new email with key.

Why?

Either the servers that are running the release are either, cpu timing out, or they are suffering bandwidth issues, or they didn't realise it would be so popular. Its definitely not running as smooth as you would think a Microsoft beta release should do, I certainly didn't have this trouble with the beta release of Vista.

I've found that I have a problem with the Active X control for the download manager in IE8. IE7 works better, though you can also use Firefox, which uses a Java-based download manager.

well, assuming your using ie, you also need to install the activeX addon the page prompts you to download

I have IE7 and do have the control installed and enabled (it appears in the Manage Add-ons pane as 'DLM Control').

When I try firefox I just get a popup saying "The download manager cannot run due to insufficient privileges...".

Any ideas? (I am running Vista 32-bit as an admin user)

I dunno how the **** some of yous are expecting to run through a beta testing programme if you don't even have the patience to wait for a beta key.

The reason it's so slow is because of certain people that are only downloading it so that they can tell their mates on Monday morning that they've used the new Windows, and then spend the next few days telling us it's crap because it doesn't work perfectly for them.

If you're one of them then **** off and let those of us that are downloading it for the right reasons get our key.
