LLU or not LLU at my exchange

It is LLU. LLU is just a technology to provide the internet, like ADSL. A company like Be* says you can get 24mb, but the same factors of ADSL are still in place like distance from exchange and line quality, resulting in your lower speed of 6mb.

I definitely haven't explained it well, someone like tolien will be much better.

So thats not LLU then is it.
Could be, LLU (or rather ADSL2+) is no guarantee of 8MB+, it's still affected by attenuation.

Or it could just be that their estimates are pants. Best way to get an idea of what kind of speeds you could expect is to find your line stats, assuming you already have an ADSL service, and plug the downsteam attenuation figure into a calculator like this.

is what it gives me, sho I will be faster then, they are just covering thier backs.
Well in the case of Be/o2 the enablement date was three days ago according to Samknows, so there's a good reason why their estimate was low (their database might not be up-to-date).

LLU != ADSL2, ADSL2+ or faster speeds.

LLU = Local Loop Unbundling. It's a service from BT that allows providers to install equipment directly in the exchange. This has the advantage of being able to provide a different service (e.g. ADSL2+) and keeping costs a lot lower than BT due to not having to use BT's network - which is hugely expensive.

Bear in mind you can still get crap speeds, even if they're using ADSL2 or 2+.
