Out of date beer.

I've just found a bottle of Theakstons thats best before May 08.

Does beer actually go off ? If i drink it shall i look forward to detoxing out of my ass for the next 48 hours ?

its best before so its not out of date it just wont be as good

Beer's an odd one - it recomposes as opposed to decomposes. If you don't drink it soon you'll end up with a bottle of water, and erm hops.

why drink it?

If you drink to get drunk, then drink it
If you drink because you enjoy it, then go and buy a fresh bottle

+1, i drank some carlsberg a while back which usually tastes cack anyway that was off by a month or so and I was fine.

I drank an out of date San Miguel once and it tasted like diesel.

Ive drank diesel as well so I can compare.

my bro when he was at uni would buy all the out of date beers from the local shop as they were dirt cheap, him and his housemates said there was no difference it was just a cheaper night

As long as it'd not got an infection you'll be fine.

You can get botulism in beer if it's off. However it requires for the bacteria to be there in the first place.. you'll know this if you yack your guts up.
Other infections will make the beer like sarsons..

It may just not be fresh tasting...
