How does Lenny Henry get laughs?

I'm just watching Live At The Appollo and unfunny Henry is on. Is he the master of sympathy laughs because he's not remotely funny? Or are people just laughing at his accent.

It's always blah blah blah Jamaican accent, Jamaican accent blah blah blah. Don't mess with the big bad jamaican woman.

I found Delbert Wilkins and all that funny years ago, but now he's about as funny as cancer.

Sometimes he's really funny but right now...as my housemate just said..."Does he have a joke that isn't about the fact he's black?"

Can you imagine being given tickets to go to Live at the Apollo, you'd be over the moon. Then you look down and see the names Lenny Henry, Andy Parsons and Ed Byrne, gutted wouldn't even come close

Yeah I wasn't too impressed with Lenny. Ed Byrne was very good tonight tho. Andy Parsons wasn't bad, tho he seems funnier on Mock the Week.
Dream line up for me (out of those on the series so far) would be Dara Ó Briain, Michael McIntyre and Sean Lock. All were hilarious.
