Pov GTX 280 won't display

The fans on my GTX's dont spin up straight away, they usually kick in during post, does yours not spin at all?

um pretty sure they don't, I hear my HDs kick in to boot windows and I wait a few secs and nothing. Will try again now and leave it a while.

Edit :- they don't kick in at all

I have the same motherboard as you, but i have the Gainward GTX280 works fine, check my sig.

Possibly a long shot but do you have any spare ram to test with? when building my new rig i used old ballistix 2gb kit and there was no display but hdd's span up etc. no post errors or anything.

Put in a new 4gb kid of ocz and all was fine! might be worth a try :)

Its obviously graphics card related if its booting into windows fine but no display. It sounds like a lack of power tbh. Youve definitely got both of the power cables plugged in correctly? Have you tried a different monitor? Id try it in another machine if possible and if it does the same in that then try an RMA to POV as OCUK will only be able to offer a refund.

Hi

i got similar problem please help see post POV 280 GTX
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17962727
My new POV 280 GTX just arrived so i pluged it and i get beeps one long and three short and the card led is red PLEASE HELP.
My system:
FX-55
Asus A8N Sli Deluxe
2GB OCZ gold
Samsung spinpoint 1TB
PSU OCZ 520W powerstream
thx

1 long, 3 short Memory test failure A fault has been detected in memory above 64KB

lol seems a lot of these 280's that OCUK were sellin off cheap were ex bgrade or returns etc as theres a lot of threads with the bargain 280's havin probs.

Mmm... I don't agree. Considering must have sold well over a 100 and there is a ratio of a failure rate on items I don't think there's any more than to be expected. The last post I saw who had probs had finally realized he'd put his PCIe bus
speed up. Turned it down - all was fine. That was quite a big post.

Some might have been but I wouldn't say many.

I don't think there's been that many issues considering how many were sold.

To op - try to test card on another machine before RMAing?

:)

Where are you in the country, you are welcome to test on my rig if you are close. Ive owned a POV too so know them...

Thanks for the offer. I am actually going to be near Stoke on Wednesday so I have asked if I can drop it in to OC to look at it, will see what they say first.

Well I did try removing ram to make sure it was nothing with that and it still was the same. Pretty sure it not that though as it boots and works fine with the other card. Thanks for the idea though.

Yep both plugged in and tested on my old card to make sure there was power going through it (albiet probably a lower amount required for my old one). As said earlier the only thing I could not test was the 6-8 pin convertor lead to see if that was faulty.
Have dual monitor, tried different combos of it with no luck. I will try it at OC if they can. Hope it does not turn out to be power related as the PSU is not that old but stranger things have happend. Thanks.

Update on this, OC have tested the card and found nothing wrong so I am at a loss now. I can only guess it must be the PSU at this stage unless someone has any other ideas?

If it is anyone recommend a good one?

had a little troble with this card as well only had a Antec Truepower Trio 650Watt it only had two 6 pin rails no 8pin, used the adapter that came with card but 1st time i use it the card was red light played about a couple off times with rails and finally got it to work, but dont like these adapters so my daughter needs new PS so i look about read lots of reviews and got a Coolermaster Real Power 850w Modular real happy with it :)
