For us paupers driving cars without built-in heated seats....
Anyone got one or used one?
Not bad for £15 or so if they work.
Was never fussed about a heated seat but since lift sharing in a mate's car who has heated seats it would be nice on the odd occasion.

Just soil yourself - cheaper that way, just as warm, and you don't look like a Taxi driver. :p

In my many years of driving, never once have I seen the need for heated seats, even in a car with them.

Apparently they make you feel like you've wet yourself anyway.

Same feelings as me, except without the many years of driving experience. Ive never once sat in a car and felt that the seats were too cold.

A heated steering wheel would be nice though. Even the leather gloves I have can be a little cumbersome sometimes.

Heated seats are great.

If I give someone new a lift I'll always offer the heated seat (in autumn/winter anyway), I have found people fall in to 2 camps.

They either;

A) Say YES and are very enthusiastic and excited about it.

B) Say NO and give me a look that says "what's the point in a heated seat you crazy person?"

Rarely does someone say "I don't mind"

Mine take a while to heat up anyhow so still pretty pointless. BMW's heat pretty much instantly though.

I like them a lot all my cars with them have heated up pretty quickly(Audi, BMW and Volvo). People who see no need for them havent used them in winter, they make the car a lot nicer to drive. They warm you up really nicely before your engine heating has even kicked in. They are pretty high on my list of must have for cars now.

I may go and try the passenger seat tomorrow as it maybe just the drivers that takes a while. Going in for a service this month so will test before hand.

Love heated seats, for me like aircon, thought it was all unneeded crap however once you have them they are wonderful. Mine take about 60secs to get up to temp so start up the car, clear the windows get in and then warm bum! Really helps as it takes about 2 miles/minutes driving for warm air to start from vents :(.

I quite like my heated seats tbh. They take maybe 2-3 mins to heat up properly in mine but on a really cold day its great.

Wouldn't say i use it all the time though.

They've never given me the impression that i've pee'd my pants :p

My mum has heated seats in her TT and it's something I'd love to have in the MR2 (leather seats). How easy are they to retrofit? I'm thinking that when I get my seats re-trimmed I may have a look at getting some of the heating elements fitted.

if your car is garaged and you live in a mild climate, then i can see why people don't need it.
if you keep your car outside and have leather seats and live in a mild climate then it's nice.
if you live somewhere cold, seats are very nice, especially if you leave your car outside.
it makes a much bigger difference on leather imo

depends on the car really though. i use them all the time in my leon, but i don't bother if i'm getting a lift with certain people who have it. i think it depends on the ambient temperature in the car. I don't like being in hot places, so i'll have the aircon around 20 in winter and stick the heated seats on, rather than have boiling hot air blowing in my face.

heated seats are also nice if you have a convertible, or drive with the sunroof open in cold weather.
i can imagine it's something you'll miss if you've had it before, but not something you'd really look for when buying a new car if you haven't had it..

oh, and @op - don't buy. get some beads or something ;)

My dad has heated front seats in his 75. Take a few minutes to heat up, but tend to do so before the cabin is warm so it's pretty good.
