Stupid Yankee Pronunciation

I was watching a youtube clip featuring a magic trick and the yank referred to hiding something in his PALM. Yes, he pronounced the "L".

Yeah, aloominum makes no sense, the first part they can get away with but the end simply isn't spelt like that.

languages evolve over time and different pronunciations and spellings occur in different parts of the world where a certain language is spoken. Yes, British english is far superior to all imitations, but such is life

it's the same with flemish/dutch, german/austrian german, belgian french/french/swiss french, spanish/latin american spanish, etc..

When Sir Humphrey Davy discovered aluminium, in his first paper on the topic he referred to it as "aluminium". In subsequent papers, he referred to it as "aluminum". We maintained the first variation, while the Americans tooko up the second. To be fair they are pretty blameless for that one
