A mate at work recommended it, so ive gone and ordered it, after watching a trailer. It should be pretty good with samuel L Jackson doing the voiceover:)

Is it just a one off film or is there a series to this?

a second series is/has just started airing too.

Personally never been interested in afro samurai, the samuel l jackson (pretty good actor mind) voiceover actually puts me off strangely, maybe I'm too accustomed to japanese voices on anime now as apart from a couple of series the engish laguage dubs are dire :)

Afro Samurai is awesome :) it's such a perfect part for Samual L Jackson lol

I love how majority of his lines has the word Mother****** in!

If it was an asian guy in the series and had Jackson voicing over then I'd definitely be hesitant about getting it but since the main character is black then I've blocked out the voice that tells me any anime in American is crap :D.

I usually can't stand Anime/Manga that has been dubbed with american acting but this was made specifically for It If I'm correct.

Got it on pre-order on my rental list, Can't wait to watch it!

Watched it ages ago and loved it, I thought Samuel L was really good it in and his voice really suited it, Might have to watch it again :)

has/is the second series aired/airing in the states at the mo ? meaning we'll have to wait ages :(

To be honest it's overhyped. The plot's weak and it's just over the top violence for the sake of violence. The style is nothing really new either, the only upside is the production value is good so you get some decent framerates than the typical lazy Anime.

If you like stylish action orientated anime, check out Cowboy Bebop which has great plot, characters, narrative, styles, themes and comedy timing. Make sure you watch the original japanese voice acting though cuz the American ones are horrid.

You could just smell the prestigious 'ewww America, I bum Japan' attitude was going to make an appearance from the first post.

Take that with a pinch of salt.

I think since people can't understand the Japanese, it makes them more accepting of the characters. I don't think it has anything to do with the actual voiceovers, but if you can understand the language, it breaks the reality barrier of an alternative universe.

Japanese Anime imo is very good, probably beter overall but it doesn't have the Westeren pazazz that this has and I think tries to be a bit overly intelligent sometimes.

This is just a pure work of art, the music and the animation.

1 ***** with a fro and a spliff going around chopping people up with his sword is all the story I need.

Afro, he's the number one.
