I will use a 7750 Black edition, plan to upgrade to Deneb later on.

No crossfire.

Which one is better? It seems like the Biostar has all I need and not any disadvantage against the DFI's.

Please give me your valued opinions!

Will these motherboards need a bios flash to support the new cpu? The boards might not boot the cpu or they may just show it as an unrecognised cpu. Interested in the 7750 myself but I was looking at the micro-atx DFI JR 790gx board myself.

The top DFI board for AM2+ at the moment is the 790FX MR2SH. That is, if you don't want the integrated graphics card for hybrid crossfire. I believe it is a sweet spot as well seeing as its cheaper than most of the ASUS boards and that god expensive Foxconn one

I finally went for the DFI DK 790GX as the MR2SH was not available and I wanted the system like..yesterday. Oh well it will be good enough I reckon. I'm not that fussy or an extreme overclocker so it should satisfy my needs for the time being.

It seems that it only takes a bios flash to make the existing boards compatible with Deneb (that I have gathered from reading early benches and reviews).

tomorrow I'm building!

All right!,

Here is my experience with the DFI DK 790GX-M2RS and the 7750 Black Edition.

I set up the mobo/cpu/ram/gpu/psu/moitor on a test bed to test the components before putting it all inside the antec 1200.

So I clipped all in place and short circuited the power pins to start off the computer. The computer post'ed as normal and stopped at the point where it was searching for a OS. All fine there.

I put everything in the case, connected the hd, dvd and reconnected every component on the mobo, fans and all and powered on the beast.

Monitor giving an error message of dvd1-d not found..hmmmm
Restarted, same message,
Tested dvi2 instead of dvi1 and all sorts of other cable/adapter combinations..0..tested changing the input manually on the monitor menu..nothing..

i was really worried by now..checked out the mobo indicator and saw a 8.8 message, looked up the mobo manual and saw that the only option was a cmos clear and then RMA..not what I wanted!!!

so I cleared the cmos, turned on the machine again..same issue but the number changed to 7F. This error had more solutions but I was really worried..so I cleared the cmos again and then I also put back the keyboard mobo-wakeup jumper (I had changed it before installing everything in the case) just in case it was causing a problem.

Turned off the screen and turned it on again, powered on, everything worked fine!!!

the problem could have been with the cmos clear, or the monitor turn off/on or that keyboard jumper. Dunno for sure but it has been working ok.

I'm not sure how to check out whether the mobo sees the cpu ok (I'm not sure what it's supposed to show). But windows see it fine.

Any tips on how to clarify whether the mobo sees the cpu correctly would be appreciated.

Just a note: The system booted and posted originally with the 7750 without a hitch, it was after I put everything in the case that I had the issues so there is no problem with the mobo seeing the cpu and booting.

Cheers

Any news? I purchased the same cpu/mobo combo and now I'm worried that I wasted time and money by not going with the Biostar.

What do you mean by news? The mobo and cpu work just fine. I'll probably try and update the BIOS in the weekend and then try overclocking it.
