Autosport/Pistonheads Show 2009

Just got back in not long ago.

Thought it was pretty average and was gone by 2pm. Was there 4 hours.

The live show was ok, loved seeing the new Focus RS even though it didn't do much.

Was far far too busy for my liking and couldn't even be bothered to take some proper photographs even though I took all my gear with me.

Though I had a good day out and enjoyed the drive in my new car so it was worth the trip out :)

Ohh, and I heard something on the radio about a car not selling at auction today for the reserve of £40,000.

What car was it?

Must have been a good car as this was on our North East radio!

I suspect it was the heap of a Batmobile. Bloke was on the TV today suggesting he would get at least £40K and I just pointed and laughed.

went today , watched the live arena at 11am , was good :) those rear engine mini's just wheelie around  :) , also watched the mercs getting a good thrashing in the testing area :D

Good event!

Me too! You must have seen that 'record attempt' too then - can't believe he just got in the red one and drove off :p

The young guy in the Focus who got interviewed was a damn good driver

Heh yeah, it was close at points.

I was a bit concerned at first, that it was going to be a lot of videos of Hamilton, Coulthard, Pussycat Dolls! but things did get going.

It's unavoidable considering the amount of shows they do, and the fact it's outside of the actual season, but it would have been nice if some of the racers were a bit more competitive!

But a good day - and my mate's convinced he's getting that SLK for a quid :p

Had a great time yesterday, arrived at about 10am, live show at 2pm and was kicked out at 6pm! One of the few shows I've been to that I've stayed that length of time for, had a good time at the various stands, places like the prodrive stand asking how the variable compression engine worked etc and just generally a good time mooching about. Car of the day was possibly the Caterham Levante, just a monster machine, but were plenty of other awesome cars too!

Was going to hunt for you Dangerous but just didn't really get chance to! So couldn't buy you a beer...sorry :p

Just got back and I'm ******

Same here :D With the BOGOFF deal, 4 of us went. £15 each was acceptable although Being disabled makes it hard to walk the distances i walked today, but somehow i managed it, with tomorrow as recovery time!

209 pics taken, and i think 20 were of cars :D :o

My opinion on ASI hasn't really changed since last year and I've expressed some of my thoughts over at the Autosport forums.

Disappointed. Could be better with more participation from various motor racing teams/series.

I feel the same as you, and I knew it would be exactly the same this year, as soon as the website went up, exact same descriptions and events, it's not surprising to see it looks exactly the same in the pictures this year as well, they had that mercedes "driving around" area last year as well.

Infact it looks like it was worse this year in terms of the metal on display.
